I know where there are two round top Idealarc 250 welders in good working condition for less than $300.00. The deal isn't going to last much longer so I need to know if they are worth what the guy is asking. THIS IS WHAT I NEED TO KNOW ASAP !!!!They are wired for 440 I need to know if they can be wired back to 220 easily and how to do it. They are no good to me wired in 440 volts.Any help is greatly appreciated.

Reply:Those are very good stick welders that will burn any electrode you can throw at them. Most of them will run on 208/230/460v and some will run on 575v as well. They are all single phase machines. These machines are also very good scratch start dc tig welders. For that price, you better pick one up.  They will last you your lifetime with very little to go wrong on them.Wiring it to run on 230v is not hard. There might be a wiring diagram inside the cover and on a manual you can download on Lincoln's web page.I have had the chance to sell mine a few times  in the past but just cant. It's too useful of a tool for me in my shop for what I have into it.  I have burned a lot of 6010 and 7018 rod with mine and tig welded a lot of stainless steel.Make sure these machines are the ac/dc version and not the ac only version.Last edited by snoeproe; 05-14-2013 at 10:05 PM.JasonLincoln Idealarc 250 stick/tigThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 52Miller Bobcat 250Torchmate CNC tableThermal Arc Hefty 2Ironworkers Local 720
Reply:At that price I might buy both welders. I just got off the phone with the guy tonight and he tells me he has another bigger welder that is all blue with a large dial in the middle that he want's $100 for. It sounds like he might have a dial arc and doesn't know it. I asked the guy if they are AC/DC welders and he said they were.I might be coming home with three welders. Boy, the wife is going to pop her lid when she see's three more welders. This will make 10 welders in my shop.If anyone has a wiring diagram on how to wire the 250's back to 220 I would greatly appreciate the help. Reply:I've got the IM-206C version of the owners manual, and There's not a schematic in there, but it should be inside the left side cover as facing the machine.I sold mine or I'd look and draw something up for ya.Lincoln SA 200Esab Caddy 160Thermal Arc 201TSMiller Dialarc HFI don't like making plans for the day because then the word "premeditated" gets thrown around the courtroom....
Reply:I looked on the Lincoln web site and they say inside the cover is the wiring diagram on how to wire it back to 220. It sure would be helpful if I can find someone that has a picture or diagram on how they did their 250 welder. Originally Posted by papaharley03Don't sweat it. The hard part will be taking all those screws out of the shroud to remove it and make the 10 second swap.JUMP ON THAT DEAL!

Reply:Thanks for the picture. Originally Posted by papaharley03They used two different methods. I can show you a pic of mine. You would change the taped off wire for one of the other ones on the power switch.
