Looking to find a list or maybe just knowledge if the different types of coatings used on SMAW electrodes and what they are purpose built for.  like the -15, -16, -17 that are on stainless electrodes, as well as why they use potassium, titanium dioxide, and sodium on the coatings.  Thanks
Reply:Usually the mfg website will have this information. I know Lincoln and Hobart do and to some much lesser extent so do WA and Inweld.

Reply:I also highly recommend this resource from the James F. Lincoln Foundation.  There's a lot of technical mumbo-jumbo in it, but also some great stuff about electrodes and gases etc.. thats fairly easy to understand and learn.  Click on the Amazon icon to order.  It's only about $28.00 and its a BIG hardback book. http://www.amazon.com/Procedure-Hand.../dp/9994925822 Attached ImagesLincoln Power Mig 216Lincoln AC/DC-225/125Miller  625 X-Treme PlasmaMiller 211 Forney 95FI-A 301HF 91110Victor Journeyman O/PMilwaukee DaytonMakita  Baileigh NRA Life Member
