Is it me or are welder prices mainly new but some used as well?  The imports seem to be knocking up to 20% or more off their stated "retail" pricing and at least as far as E bay is concerned Lincoln/Century and Hobart are down compared to recent prices in the box stores and others.  Miller is still up there but it seems like :buy now" deals go without being purchased.  I have been in the market to upgrade to a 240v MIG and have been watching prices for a month or so.  I forget the model but I just saw a nearly new Miller (forget the model) that had been selling at auction in the $800 price range with a buy now of $900 not even get a bid at $500.Is this the economy (stupid), new technology coming in, or something else?  At any rate demand is way down apparently.  My guess is the world wide economic situation.
Reply:I guess it's the old law of supply and demand. If there's not enough demand and supply goes up, then the price has to come down.                                       JMG,                                                  MikeOl' Stonebreaker  "Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes"Hobart G-213 portableMiller 175 migMiller thunderbolt ac/dc stick Victor O/A setupMakita chop saw
Reply:many like me throw out a ridiculously low bid for something we really do not need but can use if the price is right.  but yes the economy is a big factor.Just some stuff in my shop.

Reply:Welding machines have come down alot. I had a lincoln sa250 for sale and alot of people on ebay were asking 3500 to 5000 so I put it on there for $2500 and didn't get a hit on it and relisted it 3 times before it finally sold. The market has alot of  people out of work and those who are working are being tight with the money. If you need a machine now is a great time to upgrade I know I did.Vantage 300 kubota ,miller 304 xmt ,lincoln ln 25 pro , ranger 305 G, plenty of other tools of the trade to make the sparks fly.

Reply:i believe its a combination of the foreign made welders turning the lower end market competitive and the prices for the smaller migs and tigs are going to come down because of it... and the economy in general..Last edited by brucer; 11-17-2010 at 08:08 PM.

Canadians still being screwed on prices.

Reply:I use the "crazedlist" aggregator to good effect. The holidays are coming. Expect people to dump stuff.
Reply:New machine prices go up a little every year, which is typical.  Used prices are down now and have been for at least 3-4 years,  due to the economy.  Great time to buy something used.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
