When running .045 dual-shield threw the LN-25 the volt gauge pegs itself until you start an arc. I have the switch on the LN-25 set to CV and the polarity switch set to positive. On the Ranger, I have it set to CV-Wire and the stinger side on the positive terminal quick disconnect connected to LN-25, weld terminals on and wire feeder volt meter set to positive, using 75/25.Should the voltage gauge peg itself like that until you start an arc or welding?Should you go by the volt gauge on the LN-25 or the welder settings? I am thinking yes, because of the voltage drop threw the leads but wanted to ask. Seems like there is a big difference between the welder settings and the LN-25 readings. All of my connections are good, even took off a 75' section of lead with no difference in reading at the LN-25 versus sthe longer leads. I always hook the ground from the LN-25 to the ground clamp from the welder and make sure that I have a good ground.
Reply:I would go off the LN25 vote meter reading, you could always get a multi meter and test whats going on (dc volts)
Reply:I would have to say that you are seeing the meter measure the OCV but when you pull the trigger, you close the circuit and the machine drops down to what ever you have it set at. Every welding machine does this, its part of the voltage/amp curve of the machine.
