Here's a few shots of a custom made rad relocation setup that was just completed on a friends 2009 Kawasaki Brute Force 750 ATV .Everything was custom cut from 3/16  6061 diamond plate using a Hypertherm PM1000 and then tig welded togther using an Everlast Powertig 200DX .It was a fun project and it works perfectly  Attached ImagesMiller MM252 with Q300Hypertherm PM1000Everlast Powertig 200DXMiller Syncrowave 200

Reply:A lot of guys put em up high like that until they roll it over once or twice and figure out it's easier and cheaper to leave it in the stock location. Plus with that cross on there it looks like you just successfully blocked 20% of the airflow....thus leaving it in the stock position wouldn't have been any worse. The only problem I see is the one snorkel lower than the others. I had a snorkel setup like that on my Arctic Cat, but all 3 were at the same height. Otherwise you can only go as high as your lowest snorkel. overall nice exection on it, but you may have some fatigue problems since it is load bearing on the welds at the bottom and the radiator is at an angle with no other supports.
Reply:Looks good. I would be worried about the air flow also. To my knowledge that is why you would move it up to keep it from clogging up and keep the air moving thru it, but it does look good.We are on our way to being farmers! Reply:The airflow through this setup should be better than the stock rad location where only the bottom 1/2  of the rad is actually exposed to direct air flow .It's actually very commom for Brute Force 750's to suffer cooling problems for this very reason . Unless extra steps are used to always diligently wash the rad out after every use , they get plugged up on the top 1/3 . Cooling issues quickly follow .The size of the opening is actually MUCH larger than what is used by factory made rad relocation setups . Most use a laser cut company logo ( Wild Boar , High Lifter etc ) and the actual openings are much smaller than what was used here .Time will tell .The owner tends to get into some pretty nasty mud and water on a regular basis and this is what prompted him to want to do this .It's also a bit of a "fashion statement" as well . The owner wanted a different look and he certainly got it .The snorkels work extremely good as is . The lowest snorkel is actually higher than what the owner wants to go . Once you get into water over the seat , bad things usually happen to expensive electronics ( under the seat ) .Besides , I haven't tig welded aluminum for a quite a while now and the project was fun Last edited by Tigster200; 10-02-2011 at 06:47 PM.Miller MM252 with Q300Hypertherm PM1000Everlast Powertig 200DXMiller Syncrowave 200
Reply:Nice ....looks heavy ....yes its for mudding putting the radiator on the rack will keep it out of the mud...we do this all the time in Florida this is my ThunderCat 1000 with one of my designs i have changed it since this pic was taken i do not have a good pic of what it looks like now..i will get some soon.. Reply:Oh forgot to mention the radiator is beihnd the mesh grill..and those are four HID lights for the night runs we go on they are super bright..
Reply:Oh and yes my snorkles are metal
Reply:Looks good 01thump . Actually , our rack system is quite the opposite . It's super light .This is the exact reason that I insisted that aluminum be used instead of steel . The diamond plate seems to give it that heavy duty industrial look . But , it's super light and super stiff . MUCH more solid than what it might appear . Absolutely zero flex even when pushing on it HARD . Special attention was paid to the "hinge" area to reinforce it as much as possible . Something the pictures do not show . I doubt that there will be any stress fatique issues but only time will tell I guess .I used a wide angle lens to take the pictures . It seems to make the the whole rack appear larger than what it is . When sitting on the bike , you can see right over the rad very easily . The only view that will be impared will be what's directly 2 feet in front of the bike . That's it .It's something the owner will just have to get used to I guess .Miller MM252 with Q300Hypertherm PM1000Everlast Powertig 200DXMiller Syncrowave 200
Reply:My bad i did not catch the aluminum part...very cool...i am sure the owner is happy and that is all that matters when dealing with the customer
Reply:The owner is a riding buddy so projects like this are really just an excuse to hang out in the garage , drink beer and have fun  That's what he wanted , so that's what we built . His bike is unique looking for our area now and that makes him even happier Miller MM252 with Q300Hypertherm PM1000Everlast Powertig 200DXMiller Syncrowave 200
Reply:I hear you on that i have had my bike since 08 and it seems every ride i come home and change it up ...we ride talk poop and come back to the garrage and change things up...its all good..
Reply:Exactly . What's it's all about Miller MM252 with Q300Hypertherm PM1000Everlast Powertig 200DXMiller Syncrowave 200
Reply:Hard to roll em in the Mud, and given the tires we run, the Rad usually doesn't come close to the ground.Just sold my MP 700, rad relocated, 30" Silverbacks, /// Stage 1. Reply:I would definitely look into a catch bottle for that radiator.    if it does boil over its going to be spitting steam right in the drivers face.    and if you do dunk it in the cold water its going to suck dirty water into the cooling system.Vantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches.
Reply:My first thoughts viewing the photos of post #1 were of all the nice sharp corners at the top of that rad that will feel really nice to the rider if he or she were to stop suddenly...Hope the owner doesn't go fast or hit any underwater ruts.Later,Jason
Reply:yeah looks nice but cant wait to see the owners thought of it when he is driving it and feels all that hot air hitting him or much worse he blows a hose and gets all that coolant on him at a nice scorching temp of 190* fLincoln Power Arc 4000 Thermal Arc Fabricator 252 iThermal arc 186Thermal Arc 26 tigTweeko 200 amp spool gunHobart AirForce 400WP-17V-12R
Reply:There is a catch can . The pictures were taken when the job was 90% complete . The overflow spout is plumbed right into the factory tank . As far as blowing a hose is concerned , yes , it certainly is possible , but , the chance of that happening is very remote . Everyone likes to talk about that but the reality is that it never happens . Of all the guys that do this sport in our area , no one has EVER had a blown hose in 15 years of rough riding . EVER . So , the owner decided to go with it .As far as the sharp corners are concerned , everyone wanted to round the corners ( including me ) , but , the owner said NO . This is the look that he wanted and he would not accept anything but . So...... , that's what he got As far as hot air hitting the driver , when it's -15C out , the warmer air feels pretty good Miller MM252 with Q300Hypertherm PM1000Everlast Powertig 200DXMiller Syncrowave 200

Reply:As far as blowing a hose is concerned, the placement of them makes for easy inspection. If one starts to look suspect of bursting, it should be an easy matter of noticing and replacing it before that happens.
