I'm doing some super top secret work for a local haunted house... They were doing a photoshoot in a room a few over, and the owner had the photographer come snap some pictures of me working, I think they came out awesome! Warning: huge picture!Miller: 200dx, Bobcat 225, Passport, Powermax 45, Milwaukee: Dry Saw, MagDrill, grinders
Reply:hurt any floor tiles?
Reply:Those tiles look a bit like the ones in Jack Olsen's shop that he welds and beats on without any problems. As for your photo size John, see this thread http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=111 on resizing before posting so they don't cut off your post text and display properly.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:Sounds like an Awesome project.I know there is a few things all of us do in our lives that are pretty kewl. I got to haul Dinosaurs one time, very interesting story took them to the Detroit Zoo and I ended up with my Tractor Truck on the infield of Texas Motor Speed Way with about 75+ more trucks..  It seems you may be workin on something really kewl. Get some more pictures.Last edited by ToolBoxTavern; 09-21-2011 at 09:07 AM.We are on our way to being farmers! Reply:Floor tiles don't matter. The whole place is getting demo'd after the lease is up. Anyhow, just thought you guys would appreciate the picture!Miller: 200dx, Bobcat 225, Passport, Powermax 45, Milwaukee: Dry Saw, MagDrill, grinders
Reply:Got some more pictures...Turns out I'm not good at making rails at 2:30 in the morning! Good thing I can go back and fix a few mistakes (and make things removable/bolt-on after the grand opening). So pretty much the mistakes are there to stay until after opening week, then I can go back and fix 'em. Everything was run 1/8 7018 or 5/32 6013 for the handrails (all I had on hand, waiting for my Bernard Q300 to come in for my passport as my M10 gun died). Nothing lots and lots of work with a flapdisk won't fix. The two halves bolt together along the face of the 4" channel, then a 18" long piece of 3x1/2" flat stock slides into the center of the channel on each side, and gets bolted in as well. Total span of the bridge is 20'. Haven't had the manpower to lift it up yet, should get some good ideas on how much flex it will have tomorow, but going by the 10' section, it's not much. Had 900lb of firefighters jumping up and down dead center of the 10' section when it was in the air, and it moved by about 1/2-3/4". The two halves aren't bolted together in these pictures, didn't have time to drill everything that night.Picture of me after a long, long day..Miller: 200dx, Bobcat 225, Passport, Powermax 45, Milwaukee: Dry Saw, MagDrill, grinders

Reply:I'm no Iron Worker, but is that to code?Expanded metal; toe plate; mid rail, etc?Haunted house, a lot of people; children, suspended?Just wondering, if someone gets hurt and there is a investigation; etc?Last edited by skelley521; 09-23-2011 at 09:55 AM.Semper FiJesus may have been a Carpenter, but his dad was a Millwright" A grinder and a can of paint, will make a welder what he aint' "I've done so much, with so little, for so long, that now I can do anything with nothing!

Reply:This item is usually entirely constructed out of wood. they wanted it to be collapse and last 5-10 years with minimal maintenance. the bridge will be 10" off the ground.Miller: 200dx, Bobcat 225, Passport, Powermax 45, Milwaukee: Dry Saw, MagDrill, grinders
Reply:Dang it, where's a Iron Worker when you need one...probably busing doing Millwright work at the moment.....lol. J/K Here is a spec that I found so far....Here.I need to find my OSHA book, I put it up when I stopped teaching the OSHA 30.Basically there are minimum requirements on the height of the mid rail and top rail. They need to be within a given measurement for starters and be able to withstand a certain load.A toe plate is 3 1/2" to 4" tall. Normally we use wood 1"x4" and tie wire ( #9 wire) to each upright.Ok IronHeads, feel free to help me out here.....lolNot picking or anything, just like to see you do a safe job since you invested a lot of time and effort and children will be traveling on it.Edit: The bolts are supposed to be A325 or better. I would think Grade 5 or 8 would work.Last edited by skelley521; 09-23-2011 at 04:28 PM.Semper FiJesus may have been a Carpenter, but his dad was a Millwright" A grinder and a can of paint, will make a welder what he aint' "I've done so much, with so little, for so long, that now I can do anything with nothing!

Reply:It all looks great!
Reply:Looks like an interesting project!  If I may offer a suggestion, try giving the handrails a little tickle with the gas to take the bends out of the middle.
Reply:The Bernard q300 15 foot gun I got for the passport has been amazing. I've been running 030 wire through a 035 tip for 10lbs without a single issue.Miller: 200dx, Bobcat 225, Passport, Powermax 45, Milwaukee: Dry Saw, MagDrill, grinders
