I have this 26 gal air compressor that the wheels needed to be replaced on. I no longer have the compression end caps so, I was thinking about tacking some washers together and the. Tacking them to the axle.Century AC 100 stick (dead but trying to fix it)Everlast PA 160 STHhttp://www.riograndehatters.comhttp://www.texashatcleaners.com
Reply:Why not just drill a hole in the axle and use a cotter pin with a large washer. At least then the wheels are still removable with relative ease.HF 180 amp/240 volt Mig (cap mod)1987 Harley FLHTP (project)1990 F350 XLT Lariat S/C dually1990 S&S 11SC Cabover Camper2011 Ford Ranger S/C XLT

Reply:The big box stores have the replacement push on caps in their specialty hardware section. Even easier than drilling the axle and putting in a cotter pin.
Reply:I prefer the drill and clip/flip pin method over the cotter pit. easer to use though more costly. I wouldn't weld it just because the wheel's may need to be replaced or repurposed for other projects. There are no problems. There are only solutions. Reply:If you really want something to weld after cotter pin install, get a couple of acorn nuts that will fit over cotter pin and tack to washer. Kinda like a Polish hub cap
Reply:Yes, I would get a replacement push on cap from a hardware store. But to answer your question, it's not a problem welding to the existing axle like you wanted. You don't want to weld on the tank."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!!
