well im pondering a spool gun for my power mig 255 i have a ready welder but the wire speed sucks and it a pain to hook up.(also don't wanna drop a grand if its the same as what ive got) i understand i will need the hookup kit for my machine since its an older 255 what im looking for is info from those who've used the magnum sg vs the magnum 250lx besides the price is the lx that much better of a gun in the long run ive also considered the prince xl im going to be building some boats so im looking for better performance on 080-100 al also if anyone has had to have either repaired don't wanna get one that's as expensive to repair as buying a new gun lastly with the spool gun kit can i have both connected to the machine and use either one or do i have to hook and unhook each time thanks for any input as i don't even have anywhere here to check them outLast edited by umahunter; 12-16-2010 at 01:52 AM.350P 30A spool gun cut master 51 syncro 250 other stuff " take a dog off the street and make him prosper and he will not bite you sad the same cannot be said for man" i didnt use punctuation just to piss you off
Reply:If you're going to be using this to manufacture boats, I suggest you forget the spool gun idea and get a push-pull feeder and torch so you can use 12" rolls of wire instead of the tiny and very expensive 4" rolls.
