nother cooler question

Like everyone else, im looking to build a cooler. I've search with some help. I am not familiar with coolers, so bear with me. What returns the coolant back to the pan? I was thinking of making the pan sit at an angle and use gravity. Wasnt sure if this would create enough pressure. I would use a ball valve with a section of clear hose to turn the flow off and  to check for flow. Any input would be appreciated. This is still in the planning stages.
