So this last week at work me and one other guy started learning how to program and use a pansonic tawers 1900. Neither one of us has any programming experience so it has been a bit slow going. In total i only got 8 hours of training and the other guy only has 3-4 days. This is also the companys first robot and we are going to have free reign as far as programming and using it. It would be great if anyone had any resources because it is a bit overwhelming.Ok, so most everything that will be welded with the robot will be downhand on 12 guage. Right now we are welding at the same V and IPM (30v and 800ipm) that the manual welding is done with. I am pretty sure the welder is capable of pulse and spray and wondering if that would in any way speed up the weld?  (its running an axcess 450 and the feeder is capable of 1400ipm  .035 wire and mabey .045 in the future)
Reply:30 volts and 800 ipm seem pretty high for 12 ga.
Reply:Seems pretty high for anything, even for welding of heavy materials you dont see wire speeds that high, just larger diameters. If your looking at running .035 at >800IPM, you should really consider just switching to a larger dia electrode, to save wear and tear on your equipment.Have we all gone mad?
Reply:Its run so high on the machines because most of the welds are seal welds on lap joints, and it makes a tiny bead wet out and look nice, but mostly because you can weld 72ipm if you are running it manually downhand. I dont agree with the bosses machine settings but i dont have a say in it LOL.Also, today while programming, i ran into trouble with the computer spitting out a 1050 Error code. After that happened then everything started going wonky, For example deciding to start trying to weld at at movement point that is 12" away from the weld
Reply:robotic welding is over rated and shouldn't be taking over people who are welding. I hope some day they realize its a waste of money and time and effort and make it easier these days for welders to get a job.my point of view of that __Welding is the best trade ever.
Reply:I do not agree with your statment, why would it be a waste of time and money? Also, does anyone know anything about touch sensing?
Reply:I did a little work with it in the past, what do you want to know?Have we all gone mad?

Reply:Can somebody recommend laser (seam searching) sensor manufacturer for arc welding robots? We have an ABB robot, and I looking for a searching solution.I'm in contact with ServoRobot company, they produces laser sensors, but I need more offer. For example Cloos robots use their sensors.Do anybody have welding robot with laser sensor?
