Sorry for the mundane post ……..I have a Miller Pro-Hobby helmet that I’m looking for fitting tips for.  When the shield is down, I have no problems.  But when the shield is up the weight of the shield pulls the helmet off my head.  The only way to get it to stay in place is to tighten the head strap to a level that’s uncomfortable.  I have not found a comfortable working solution besides simply taking the helmet completely off between welds.  The result is that I am constantly fiddling with my helmet and it’s a nuisance and slows me down considerably.  I’d love for the helmet to simply stay up when told to do so without fussing.Any tips?  Will a welding cap help?  Are there other helmets that might fit better?  Thoughts?Brian

Reply:Thanks for all the replies, guys.  I will give one of the Jackson outfits a try.
Reply:Actually there's an art to itBoth my hoods flop down when I don't want them to, but if you tighten the tension thingies they won't flop down WHEN YOU WANT THEM TOThe idea is BALANCE  Face the wind in the opposite direction that you want the hood to flop  Grow long hair to fill out the headband  Get an AD hood, and never lift it, as a matter of fact NEVER TAKE IT OFF  (This method paired with a leather thong, whip, and handcuffs, might make the missus happy when retiring for the evening, or earn you a whackin with your own whip, and crack over the noggin with your fancy new AD hood)Best of luck"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Unless they've improved on the Jackson 370, I'm out.Went through 3 , they ripped near the pivotOne separated while 40' in the air, and down my hood went, cat like reflexes caught it though.I'm now using an Arcone hood (don't know the model) its more narrow than the Jackson's, so it rubs my ears (I bought 2 off eBay for $10 ea, normally they are $180ish)
Reply:Nothing fancy
