Awaiting the arival of the long awaited Dynasty 200 dx !!!!! ( YES!)Am building a cooler now. Using a large trans. cooler(11 x 14 x 3/4) - and found a beautiful 10 inch rotron type fan to cool it. They also has some kind of military surplus exchanger which looked like a auto heater core with 2 four inch rotrons attached (50$) . They looked pretty nice but I was building a slightly bigger unit. The 10 inch rotron is pretty quiet and moves a lot of air. It has a round drum shaped housing with a lot ofblade area unlike most rotrons I have seen.I am wondering what yall would reccomend in a water cooled torch .... I will be doing some thin wall molly tube , some normal steel and maybe someoccasional aluminum maybe 1/8 to .035. Is there a compact torch which will get into tube clusters and still have enough power to do 1/8 al ? Or do you think I would be better off getting 2 torches, like a tiny CK and a wp-18 for aluminum ???????Jody Collier reccomended a compact water cooled torch a while back but I can'tseem to find the article ..... (?)Signed: Excited !
Reply:Sure don't need a WP18 on a Dynasty 200.WP20 will do fine. Rated up to 250A.Might want to look into the micro torches by CK for really detailed work, but a 20 with a flex head and button backcap will get into some pretty small spaces.Syncro 250 DX Dynasty 200 DXMM 251 w/30A SG XMT 304 w/714 Feeder & Optima PulserHH187Dialarc 250 AC/DCHypertherm PM 1250Smith, Harris, Victor O/ASmith and Thermco Gas MixersAccess to a full fab shop with CNC Plasma, Water Jet, etc.
Reply:the torch's that Jody had recommended were made by weld tec if my memory serves.Hope this helpsRyan_______________________OF COURSE I DON'T LOOK BUSY... I DID IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME

Reply:a #20 torch is probably the best all around size for anything up to 200 amps. I only run air cooled and a wp-17 torch for most stuff but I just bought a wp-9 (same size and front end parts as the wp-20) for the lighter stuff and tight spots. I also have the 200 DX and it is awsome!! If I ever go to liquid cooled ill be getting the wp-20
Reply:WP-20 is the go to torch for sure, in fact I don't think I've ever used another water cooled torch.
Reply:Thanks for all the replys !The wp-20 type sounds like gets everybodys thumbs up ! Will go google the -12 pro !I have been looking at cooler design for about 3 months. The pressures seem to be 30 -50 psi and anout 2 gal/min. I definately like the procon pump - I think i want great long termreliability on the pump- don't need to cook a torch. I want to put a cartrige filter inthe line with some kind of overpressure bypss in case of a clog. I am thinking of anpiezo audible alarm for high temp or water pressure. I dont want an interlock whichwould just shut the cooler down with out me noticing. I have a 1/5 horse motor to turn the procon. If I wanted to raise or lower the pressure could I do something as simple as a bypass line or do I want to play with the motor speed ( like an electronic speed control ) ?????????I havn't decided how to do the tank. I'd like to get at least 1.5 to 2 gallons if I canfit that much in there !Has anyone figured out a ready made plastic tank with a snout comming out at a45 degree angle ? The tank might end up being the hardest part !Tim :-) |
