Reply:A magnifying, or "cheater lens", isn't going to help you with Mig welding.  You cannot get close enough for it to work.  It will make things worse. However, if you want to try it I would suggest going to Wal-Mart, or a book store, and get one of those plastic 4" x 6" magnifying lens things that book readers use.  It could be taped to the outer or inner shield lens of the helmet.Last edited by MWalden; 07-15-2013 at 11:24 PM.

Reply:I found this at Northern and This at cyberweld. I had to bend the retaining clip a bit to get the cheeters in but it works good for me. The helmet was recomended from Jody- Weldingtipsandtricks.com Gizzmo

Reply:The AD lens in this helmet is the clearest and most consistent in shading, across the entire view area of the lens, that I've used.http://www.usaweld.com/Striker-Steal.../90130-csv.htmESAB Migmaster 250 Hobart Ironman 230Multimatic 215TWECO Fabricator 181i & 211iHH125EZ - nice little fluxcore only unitMaxstar 150 STH - very nice

I can still get my fixed shade lenses in glass at the LWS.  I currently run a gold #10 in one pipeliner and an ArcOne auto darkening filter in another pipeliner.Matthew MortonTexas A&M '06Logsdon Seminary '13"Who Dares Wins""AFTF""WH2PH"SA 200 (Code: 5337)TB 302CP 302 w/22A Wire FeederMillerMatic 200Miller Syncrowave 200MillerMatic 252BurnTables 4x4 CNC MachineHypertherm 65

Not a problem though, I just took it over to the belt sander, and in less than a minute  I was able to slide it right into the cheater lens holder that is built into the helmet.I am very pleased with the clear high definition view of the weld puddle and region that I see through this lens.

Reply:I use the cheaters in all of my helmets.---No good deed goes unpunished---
Reply:You can buy a cheater in 4x2 and throw it in any standard hood iirc. I picked up a Hobart(?) fixed shade for less than $20 at Northern Tool. It's basically the pipeliner style just a little shorter on top and bottom... and not nearly made as well. But it works just fine.
