Did a quick 4 pt in a customers car... Haven't welded it because I need to drop the hoop down to put the headliner in.. Building a lot of stuff for this car, doing over rider traction bars, custom 9", panhard bar and some more so I will keep you guy's posted. Reply:No roof to floor cross support?  How is it attached to the floor?
Reply:Very nice! Most people forget to make the cross tie removable. Subscribed!
Reply:Time to make one for the car in my sig pic... ;-)I dig it.JoeMiller 140 Autoset (2010)Miller Syncrowave 250 (1996)
Reply:I'd like to see the back stays a little closer to the top of the main hoop, but I tend to build cars to crash (road race applications). Nice looking work.KevinHobart Handler 210Tweco Fabricator 181iLincoln Squarewave Tig 175
Reply:I cannot build a cage the way I want to in a customers car. This is pretty much a "shelby" harness bar really. Gives him a spot to put his harnesses... It attatches to the structural pad right above wear the front spring eye is.If he wanted I would have built the cage like my car  Attached ImagesLast edited by fordman; 12-08-2011 at 04:42 PM.HTP Invertig 201Lincoln Idealarc SP250Miller 180 AC StickBy farmall:They should have held the seagull closer to the work, squeezing evenly for best deposition.

Reply:Yeah, can't do much when a customer wants it their way. Especially when they are cheap to boot. I tried and tried to get this guy to "finish" this bar but all he wanted was a place for the seat harnesses and a camera as well.
Reply:Needs some diagonals too.  Did you put mounting plates before welding them directly to the body?     I realize that this is a customers car, but don't set yourself up for a liability.---No good deed goes unpunished---

Reply:At the very least I'd suggest a removable seat-back-brace too.  Usually the mountings for the seats are just fine for going into something headfirst and the harness will keep the ~200lbs in the seat from ripping out the floor, but even with fender washers, doublers, etc... if the car goes off the road backwards, even at low-ish speed, all the leverage on the seat will tear the floor out like a tin can and the driver winds up being sent head first into the trunk/backseats.  Seen it happen a few times with Porsche 911's, which have a tendency to go off the road tail first if you lift in a corner.  Even a new one at retail isn't that much and they're pretty simple.
Reply:Nvm I see what you are saying. Not sure how he would feel about one of those.Last edited by fordman; 12-11-2011 at 04:16 AM.HTP Invertig 201Lincoln Idealarc SP250Miller 180 AC StickBy farmall:They should have held the seagull closer to the work, squeezing evenly for best deposition.
