Lincoln Arc Start switch electrical questions

Does this device simply leave the other 4 pins of the 6 pin amphenol connector disconnected?  Is the device a simple switch with nearly no resistance?  Basically, I'd rather start welding right away and I am waiting for my pedal to come in which may be a few weeks while its getting fixed ( Case issue).I know the K870 pedal has a 10k 2w pot and two caps in addition to the switch, but I see so no resistance or load value for the switch so I am assuming its just a normal switch but I don't know what amount of current it should be able to handle....

Reply:I think you still need a pot to get current tho.  Im kinda thinking you have to switch to GTAW and REMOTE for Arc Start for TIG. Otherwise switch to LOCAL SMAW and set Local current for scratch start. LOCAL GTAW wont work and REMOTE wont without the pot in the foot pedal

Reply:Yes it worked just fine, the current switch and gas solenoid operation are on the same pins (D & E) so there is nothing to worry about if you just want to have arc & gas with no remote current control.  Honestly, it would take minimal effort to add a pot for remote control.Lincoln Square-wave 175/ watercooled Holox TIG torch
