So I just picked up a new set of bottles today and I want to mount them on my welder trailer. The oxy is a 250 cf and the acetylene is 145 cf. Because of limited space on my small trailer I want to mount the oxy horizontally. Anyone else do this? I'm thinking that it will be fine because the pure liquid oxy will flash to a vapor at usable pressure but I'm kinda worried about the regulator getting a shot of liquid.Any feed back would be appreciated!

Reply:Oh so its still a gas. Very cool! Thanks
Reply:Oxygen, Argon, CO2 are all fine laying on the side. Acetylene should be store vertically, although I have transported them horizontal and just left them stand overnight before using. If space is a concern, wouldnt the Oxygen tank take up MORE space laying down though? If you cant fix it with a hammer, it must be an electrical problem."Boy, everyone starts with a full bag of luck and an empty bag of experience. Reply:You can actually run an acetylene bottle about 30 degrees off vertical with no issue. Acetylene is dissolved in acetone in the bottle. Thats why it's not prudent to use (vent) the bottle in a horizontal position but again up to 30 degrees from vertical works.Have a frien who mounts his O2 and acteylene bottles angled in the side of his service truck in a rack. Makes regulator adjustments easier from the ground on bigger bottles.
Reply:Co2 does not work well on its side, so long as the liquid level is above the halfway mark. It tends to freeze the reg very fast |
