So I have a job test coming up on Monday 3G and 4G with FCAW. He said if I pass that I can try FCAW on pipe. I can do stick on pipe, I do 6" schedule 80 pretty good, I'm not rock star but I can knock out the root and fill like a Boss (my cap is lacking) My question is, how does the fit up, bevel/land/gap differ. and how should I work the gun, is there anything I should know, (tips, tricks) ?I also have the same question using the Tig process. Bevel/land/gap I know how to work the torch.
Reply:Lol guess maybe I should have asked this on a welding forum...
Reply:on overhead set it just like flat and don't camp out and do pass after pass let it cool a little between passes on vertical if your wps says do stringers do stringers if it says weave weave if it doesn't say so then do which one your most comfortable with also clean thoroughly in bewteen passes and fit up will be the most important part go to you tube and look up some 3 and 4g tests like on millers channels they help allot
Reply:Thanks joe, any fit up tips for 6g pipe?
