Got a chance to play with one tonight. Only played around with AC and had a few questions.Seems no matter how I had it set the tungsten would ball up every time. Acts like a transformer machine. Also the inital arc start is smooth, but HOT. I couldn't seem to focus the arc as tight as I wanted because of this. Frequency was around 180hz.Also never had a chance to switch from sine wave to square wave (and forgot the other wave form), but they all seem to be the same to me .This normal operation for this machine?Torchmate 2x2 CNC with Flashcut CNC controlsHypertherm Powermax45 Esab ET220i Razorweld 195 MigRazorweld 200ac/dc TigTormach 770, Tormach xstechRazorweld, Vipercut/Vipermig, SSC Foot Pedal Dealer
Reply:What tungsten and size did you use?Amperage? How much electrode negative did you dial?Argon flow rate?Aluminum thickness? If you ran it on sine wave, you ran it like a transformer machine.  The other forms are Advanced Square wave and Soft Square wave. How can they seem the same if you didn't switch to them?Dave J.Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.

Reply:I hope I didn't just miss this, but what tungsten type and size? Recommended tungsten type is different for inverters vs. transformers, but I don't remember the details.Everlast PA160-STH... and that's about it!
Reply:It's the same setup I use on all my machines and has been perfect every time.1.5% lanthanted, 3/32. I can swap over to my Longevity 200ex and htp 221 and it welds great and holds a perfect point. Switch this this guy and get this issue.Torchmate 2x2 CNC with Flashcut CNC controlsHypertherm Powermax45 Esab ET220i Razorweld 195 MigRazorweld 200ac/dc TigTormach 770, Tormach xstechRazorweld, Vipercut/Vipermig, SSC Foot Pedal Dealer
Reply:Dang. I was hoping you were going to say you were welding on pure or something, but lanthanated should be fine, I would think.Everlast PA160-STH... and that's about it!

Reply:GAmble, you ought to post on the Everlast forum.  Lugweld would see it and chime in.
Reply:This should have been in the Everlast section, but I am glad I did see it.  Really this should be a call to tech support. The transfer amps are adjustable on the unit, as well as several other features.  Have you watched the online tutorials?  You'll need to access the hidden menu and lower the amps. The unit starts on DC+ so if you have too much heat going for the tungsten, it will ball at the start.  This unit does ball or dome slightly in AC, but should NOT create a big huge balloon on the end.Last edited by lugweld; 08-20-2013 at 09:32 AM.Esab Migmaster 250Lincoln SA 200Lincoln Ranger 8Smith Oxy Fuel setupEverlast PowerPlasma 80Everlast Power iMIG 160Everlast Power iMIG 205 Everlast Power iMIG 140EEverlast PowerARC 300Everlast PowerARC 140STEverlast PowerTIG 255EXT
