I am starting to work on a new table. I have 4 tables now but need one that has places to mount fixtures to. What I am thinking of is 5 x 6' of 6" C channel for top with 9/16 holes drilled down center on 3 5/16 on center with 1/2" nuts welded on back , spaced 5/8" so my "T" nuts and layout blocks from my mill will work. 2" reciever tube front to back to mount top and legs. Legs made of 6" C channel at far corners of table to make right angle from top. A Tray under top to ketch slag and a hole in back to hook a blower to to make it a down draft. Vice grips and C clamps that bolt to top. 2 - 24" 6" C with holes down middle and plat welded to end at a 90 that can be bolted to end to extend table or to top for lay out perposes. I just downloaded Google Sketchup but will take me a while to figure it out.Miller 180,Esab 300I TIG Lincoln Stick [1950's} Victor Torches, Dewalt chop saw, Enco 9x48 Mill, 48x60 home shop with Gantry crane and Pit.
Reply:It sounds like you have it pretty well figured out. Any other questions or ideas that you would need would be found with the search function. There are so many work table threads on this forum, its somewhat mind boggling |
