2nd post here.. you'll find an intro post with some pictures and a vid of latest project.Thought I'd just right in with my latest burning question: I'd like to add pulsed AC tomy tig machine as an add-on.. either store-bought or homemade. Anyone outthere old enough to remember when these weren't built-in? I've got a nifty little 180amp AC/DC (Cemont TX160 AC/DC, Italian). Has DC pulsebut no AC pulse. Even DC only goes down to about 25ppm. I'd like to get inthe sub 5ppm range in both but mostly AC (thin aluminum and out of position).Currently I make do by pulsing the petal manually. Gets me by but leavesalot to be desired.Foot controller/machine uses a 10k pot.. so I assume anything off the shelf wouldneed to be working in that 10k range. But, honestly, doesn't seem like an impossible little electronics project, thoughI might not have all the details.I'm thinking of something that gets wired between the foot pedal and the box and"chops the signal". Three adjustments maybe: peak time, background time, anda little something that drops my current percentage-wise.Thing is I have no real signal to chop, but a resistance value. And setting a"percentage" of that is currently over my head. I'm thinking a 2nd pot where I can set the background current to some fixed level and then switch betweenthat pot and the pot in my pedal.Anyone out there try something like this? Thanks!Tony
