So i have been trolling the site for a little while and decided to post my table/cart that I just Finished.  I got a Hobart 140 mig welder for Xmas and like most, my first project was a welding cart.  Space is at a premium in my garage (sure you can tell my the pics) so i knew i wanted a table the would also hold my welder and tools.  This is what i came up with.I start the project with just flux core wire, I soon got tire of that and found the bottle of pure CO2 for $100 on craigslist. I then hand to modify my design to accommodate such a big bottle, but it work pretty well.  The bottle is insulated from the table using a rubber car mat, so the gas bottle does directly not touch the metal table at all. I mostly plan on doing small projects and didn't really have the need for a really sturdy table with a really thick table top.  I just wanted a place to weld off the floor and keep all my tools close by. Reply:This is a pic of what the CO2 bottle is sitting on.  There is also rubber where the tank is strapped to the side of the table.  If you guys/gals have any suggestions feel free to let me know.  If you used more than about 3-4lbs of mig wire, than you have more experience than me Attached Images
Reply:I like the design. You should show some closer pictures of your welds, the one I see clearly looks a little cold.  Also, I like 75/25 Argon/CO2 better for a gas.  Looks good though.Lincoln Pro Mig 180Everlast PowerARC 200
Reply:Thats a good idea, I like the flip up work table with a compartment underneath. I do agree with Steve turn the heat up and the wire speed down, the Co2 will help with penetration a little also, and bigger bottle the better( cheaper to fill ).Lincoln pro mig 180Lincoln Square Wave Tig 300/wp 20/home built water cooler Victor, Purox, Harris, O/A welding/cutting setupsVintage Craftsman drill pressVintage Craftsman/Atlas 12"x 36'' lathe7''x 12'' w/c band saw Everlast 140 st
Reply:heat up, wire speed down, will do.  I would show some of the welds but its kinda like showing off a picture of your kinda ugly girlfriend to a bunch of guys dating super models... there not going to be impresses!! lol
Reply:looks like you're off to a really good start Side note, you chose a great grinder. Ive had my $40 Porter-Cable since like May of 2010 and Ive used it almost daily since then and put it through a lot and it just keeps going. Those things are really well made, I dont see how you could beat them for the price.[Account Abandoned 8/8/16 Please Do Not Attempt Contact Or Expect A Reply]. See you on YouTube! -ChuckE2009
Reply:As a good measure of safety, I'd add a 1/8"(min.) bit of sheet to completely hide the tank and valve from the table. Just for Murphy's law sake. Grinder jumps out of yer hand and smacks the tank, pausing there, at just the right spot, allowing the grinding stone to lean on the tank while the trigger lock is engaged............. see where I'm going with this? If it doesn't ruin your day in a permanent way, you may at least render your tank non-refillable due to being unsafe. Shinto happens. Nice first project though.  After the above mod, a welded gift to whom you received from is next! 200amp Air Liquide MIG, Hypertherm Plasma, Harris torches, Optrel helmet, Makita angle grinders, Pre-China Delta chop saw and belt sander, Miller leathers, shop made jigs etc, North- welders backpack.

Reply:Originally Posted by DemonSpeederI should elaborate a little bit about the settings you want to use... basically the best thing you can do before actually welding on a project,is do a test weld( on metal the same thickness as what you are going to weld on) and get a nice sizzling bacon sound, ounce you have it adjusted right then proceed to weld on your project, also watch some of Jody's video's on youtube (weldingtipsandtricks.com),he has a veriety of excellent videos....
Reply:looks great, very intricate design, i made a table for my first project which was basic as anything. i commend you. Great job
