1.5x.125 square bent by hand, well- 24 foot of leverage does the job. Balls and hemi's came from King Metals. Hand plasma'd the brackets. Heat and beat the c scrolls. Threw together lift to install, used a worm gear winch powered by drill to raise.Peter Attached ImagesEquipment:2  old paws2  eyes (that don't look so good)1  bad back

Reply:That looks great.  My first thought was that was going to weigh a ton, but then I saw the pillars -- which look plenty stout. What thickness is the stock for the lattice pieces?Jack OlsenMy garage website
Reply:ThanksI didn't weigh it but guess each one was about 130 to 150lbs. Lattice is 3/16 x 1. Those pillars as well as the rest of the construction is 10 x 10 cypress. Place is nice the pics doesn't do it justice.PeterEquipment:2  old paws2  eyes (that don't look so good)1  bad back
Reply:Those are beautifully done.  The scale "works" and that restaurant patio looks like a very pleasant place.  Like that lift.  Gonna have to remember that when I set my patio arch.  BTW, even your front yard (?where you set up the bench) looks like a good place to pull out a directors chair and have a brew after work!   Keep up the good work ... your welding on cast posts were VERY informative too.
Reply:That pavillion is behind a good customers house, next to her pool. Pavillion is 40 x 60. The cypress doors that can be seen as well as 12 or 15 more in this construction came from New Orleans, most are 150 to over 200 years old. Floor is large slate slabs, and there is lots of granite counter tops one of them 6 x 12 foot. Full size fire place, large flat screen, comercial grade cooking appliances and a nice sound system. I picked up and left about noon, she was having friends over for the LSU game this afternoon.PeterEquipment:2  old paws2  eyes (that don't look so good)1  bad back

Reply:Quite striking.  Really nice work.Did the table move while bending?  How can you actually bend of the 24' tube?
Reply:Those are each 12 foot long, I bent more than I needed and had to miter on the straight legs comming off the bend. I bent probablt 13 or 14 foot total and the had to stick a rail road bar in it to make up for lost leverage.ThanksPeterEquipment:2  old paws2  eyes (that don't look so good)1  bad back

Reply:Thanks for posting that, the sphere in the link is pricy! The steel 4 inch spheres I used were .118 inch thick, I bought them from King Metals for $7.99. I will not be building my own unless I really, really have too. King shows up to 12 inch steel spheres at about 60 dollars.PeterEquipment:2  old paws2  eyes (that don't look so good)1  bad back
Reply:Peter:Excellent work!! Very artistic. I really like the custom iron work, adds a lot to the final design. I have a question. In the first couple of pix's you show your bending template. What size steel did you use for the web portion? I have a job to do on a stair railing for outside for a friend and it involves a bend segment that will be on a 7 foot radius and I need to build a similar template to bend the 1 1/2 sched 40 pipe for it.Also, the picture showing the ruler is a little washed out so the offset doesn't show up.Thanks and keep the pix coming. Incidently, where in Louisiana are you?Glenn.Sign on East Texas payphone: Calls to God 40 cents......it's a local call...

Reply:Thanks Peter. I actually went with a four foot buck (why is it called a buck?). I don't have a plasma torch just an oxy/actelene. I'm not very good with it though so the cord looks a bit like a drunken sailor did it.Later today I'll be welding on the outer 1/4X2 flat and getting the pipe out to bend. If it doesn't get too dark I'll take some pix's. I'll be doing the cold bend.Turns out you're a ways south. I'm about 80 miles directly west of Shreveport.GlennSign on East Texas payphone: Calls to God 40 cents......it's a local call...
Reply:Outstanding work! Nicely designed and executed. Is that a powder coat finish? Did you weave or overlay the lattuce?
