Here's the big Christmas present project for this year. A bench to go at my in-laws sitting spot down by the creek. The bench itself is some 1/4" x 1-1/4" bar bent "the hard way" to an ergonomic curve for the ends which set the profile. The "slats" are 1" x 1" x 14g tube except the back top "slat" which is 2" x 1" x 14g rectangle tube. The arm rests are 1" tube with cup holders made from 4" x .120" wall od tube. The legs and support frame are also 1" tube. The writing on the top "slat" is welded on with the settings a little cold so the bead profile is tall for good contrast. It says, "Rest and be Thankful"Brian LeonardAppalachian Ironworks L.L.C.434 Long Branch Rd, Marshall, NC 28753828 649 9966828 702 [email protected]
Reply:I really like the design, but I think the "Rest and be thankful", takes a lot away from it.
Reply:I like it, I think the paint will quiet down the wording. Looks nice. You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else. Albert Einstein
Reply:Hey Brian,Nice project.....especially since it is a gift that has been personalized. Those words take NOTHING away from the bench, quite the contrary. You posted a nice layout set of pics & it looks to be a great project for anyone.I would surmise that member "etc." would also like all the Christmas/Birthday/Special Occasion/Holiday cards to be "wordless" so that the words couldn't: "take a lot from it"..........DennyComplete Welding/Machine/Fab. Reply:That's about the nicest-looking bench I've seen in a long time.  The invitation to rest and be thankful is straight from your heart, I can tell.  Well done.Contrary to popular opinion, I do NOT have a pet turkey that craps molten steel.  It's a goose.
Reply:Brian, as always, real nice work.                               Bob

Reply:Very graceful curves. Beautiful work, as always.
Reply:Very nice. I'm sure they will enjoy the gift for many years to come. Tell us about the hard way bends... heat and jig or press?
Reply:Beautiful design. What is the length?

Reply:Brian, as always your work is tops!  Thanks for posting.  Very graceful form.  Bob
