I've been lurking for a while and picking up some great ideas in the forums... now I have a question.  I'm looking to add a small torch to my tool box for welding sheetmetal and have read that the victor j-27 is good for just such work.  I found a local guy with one for sale, relatively cheap, but it is a little beat up.  Does this damage affect the performance of the torch?  Will my welding flame be all wonky?  He said the torch seals just fine on both ends.Comments? Thanks,Ken
Reply:Looks to me like the dents won't interfere with the tubes under the covers. The Victor website has manuals and you can leak check them with inert gas or CLEAN compressed air pretty easily if you like. I'm not wise to welding tip interchange or prices for these. Others may chime in, and check the manuals for more info.http://www.thermadyne.com/victor/res...iterature.html
Reply:Thanks, that's what I thought.  I haven't taken a torch apart, but that was my understanding that the tubes ran up inside the body.  I still may get it checked out by my local shop.
