Hello all,Any of you tech types know why my sm400 fluctuates while welding. I've got 220 at the main switch and all 3 locations are set for 230 volts. The fan is weak compared to my sm300. Im losing voltage somewhere. This thing will barely strike an arc all the way to almost burning a hole thru 3/8 plate with 1/8 7018. My sm300 had a similar problem in 2000 and RJ Cates in SD Ca. fixed it by replacing a switch or two(don't really remember). I live in the sticks in mt. and its 240 miles to billings to a service center. I just got the 400 a week ago and when I plugged it in it seemed to have full power, judging by the fan motor. I got the whips made up today and it no worky so good.ThanksBryanLast edited by blawless; 09-10-2013 at 11:59 PM.Reason: forgot to say thanks
Reply:Since Arc Products closed its tough to get repairs on them. That's why u often see them cheap now. ArCon is the same basic machine. Started by one of the inventors of Powcon line. They would prob be your best bet for diagnosing the problem.Posted via Tapatalk using Galaxy S4Tiger Sales: AHP Distributor www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P, Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma.
