Is there anyone out there tig welding while sporting a Pacemaker? If so, please comment. Thanks.
Reply:While you're waiting for a definitive answer, try o.a. gas welding. If I ever found myself in that situation, I would switch to o.a. and blacksmithing. I'd just start pounding out the sculpture fulltime.http://www.facebook.com/LockhartMetalArthttp://www.facebook.com/pages/Grumpy...44306259043484
Reply:I do not but good friend of mine has one and had to teach his wife to do the tig welding for him. Can't get with in about 8 feet of a running welder with out screwing up his pacemaker..From the desk of Kevin CaronTrying to be the best me I can!www.kevincaron.comAHP Alpha Tig 200x MillerMatic 251Miller Syncrowave 200
Reply:Ask the doctor that placed the pacer in you. There are a lot of misconceptions with pacemakers. Two hoaxes are that you can't stand near a microwave and you can't walk through the theft detectors at the exit of department stores. Both untrue.A strong magnetic field will inactivate your pacer. It will put it into VOO mode where it paces the ventricle at a defined constant rate and has no sensing. Leaning up against a welding magnet may be more dangerous than the welding itself.
