Hi to all. From Waco TX. As you can tell from my post count, I'm a noob here. Retired sheet metal worker from TN. We're full-time RVer's. I love coffee. Been roasting for a while and decided to build a roaster so that I can roast the amount (1-2 lbs) of coffee, at one time, that I need. Here are a few pics at the beginning of my attempt. Reply:Got the bearings yesterday.I'm not satisfied with the drum so I'll be making a new one, hopefully today. Attached ImagesDannyMy SiteJust worrying 'bout what I can't get to today.
Reply:Oh, got a new (to me) Miller 185. Sure is nice to be able to actually weld something! Attached ImagesDannyMy SiteJust worrying 'bout what I can't get to today.
Reply:i roast my green coffeebeans( i get em from sweet marias..i like the ethiopian the best) in a wok with a handle on a stove top burner..i put a pound of green beans in the wok and flip em like pancakes every 6-10 seconds, takes about 17 minutes for a batch...what are you gonna use for heat in this thing? im gettin tired of flippin and will shamelessly copy yours if it works..
Reply:I plan on using two Watlow elements approx 1000 watts each. Will use 2-3 pids to monitor bean temp, environment temp and mex environment temp. Drum will be 9" dia. X 10" length. I'll make a stirred cooling tray to dump the beans in when done. I'll post as I make progress.DannyDannyMy SiteJust worrying 'bout what I can't get to today.
