So I'm putting this out there to see if I'm the only one (doubtful) that gets screwed by going to the LWS. Long story short, Stopped friday and picked up some stuff for the weekend work, and paid for it. No problems.Stopped today for a few of the EXACT same items (at the request of coworkers) and the price is now magically higher?????   I am going to take my original receipt in tomorrow and see if they will refund me the money that I over payed today. But I'm not sure how that is going to work out. When the pricing on the pipe wrap came up, he said "I'll reduce it this time, but it will be higher any time after this *insert pissed off salesman grumpy face* "Any one else have this issue before? And for the record, it was the Welsco here in Springdale, AR. The one in Fayetteville is really good about everything. But I don't go that way on the way home.
Reply:I'm lucky- Sim's welding supply has been great and even the local Airgas is good.Wouldn't hurt to speak to the general manager, unless of course that's who you dealt with.    Inconsistent pricing always bugs me- I have a vendor for Motion picture gear and their prices are way high until you ask for a better deal ?? We opened up an account and suddenly we receive a 25% discount.Ed Conleyhttp://www.screamingbroccoli.com/MM252MM211 (Sold)Passport Plus & Spool gunLincoln SP135 Plus- (Gone to a good home)Klutch 120v Plasma cutterSO 2020 benderBeer in the fridge
Reply:My LWS has been good to me as well. Normally going out of their way to look for deals or something for me.
Reply:Ive done a lot of wheeling and dealing to get my 5) 155 cuft c25 cylinders. The other day my dad carried them to the lws (even though I told him to travel a little further to another place)And what do I have now? 5 100cuft cylinders. I haven't called them yet, but I will.
Reply:Does the supplier have a website with prices posted ? Do they charge you on how you look ? Maybe it is time to find another supplier or buy online if possible.
Reply:Do you know that their prices they paid didn't go up when they had to replace the inventory after you made the first purchase?
Reply:Every welding supplier and steel supplier I've ever dealt with has preferential pricing. The more you buy from them the cheaper the price. Most of the time it's all up to the salesman you're dealing with at the time.Don’t pay any attention to meI’m just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400

Reply:Oh the LWS can really make me furious sometimes. Exepcially last time I was there.I went there the other day to pick up a order for work totaling a little over 7k. First I had to wait in line forever. Finally I get up there and first thing he said "ile help with beginner questions soon, I got serious deals now" wile he motioned for the next person in line. all I very nicely said is ime hear to pick up company names order. He looked twice I showed him the paperwork and his mood changed imiidadlty. He was pretty nice after that. Its amazing what money can do. Even thoe I was just there to pick up a work order when I go somewhere to get equipment/supplies for myself I sure wont be going there. I mean just cause ime 18 doesn't mean that I wont be a valid customer with bigger purchases later on.PROUD   AMERICAN
Reply:For the most part I cannot stand sales weasels. When I'm working the counter at my current job you're treated nice whether you're buying a $2 item or $200 worth of product. It is nice, however, when you're shopping for a high dollar ticket and when you get treated like crap by a sales weasel to smile and let him know that you were just about to drop 5k on a new item there but instead you're going to order it online. That look, my friends, is priceless. Reply:At Airgas in South Texas they used to give rig welders a better deal than single hands for some reason. There doesn't seem to be a set price at welding supply stores.
Reply:This past week I got a quote from my regular sales guy on that 3" Sched 40.  It came out to $120.00!!I have 50 of them to order, that's a HUGE difference in price!!Buy American, or don't whine when you end up on the bread line.
Reply:Fortunately the little metropolis I live near (pop 6K) only has a couple of suppliers and they bend over backwards to give a deal and get it quick if ordering is needed. These guys are awesome. Not a BigBrown or FarceEx truck in site so everything comes via public bus from San Jose.I ordered 20 meters of T hose with B fittings yesterday afternoon. The dude in SJ made them yesterday and put them on the bus at 7AM today. They'll be here about 1130. Shipping was $2.40.If they can't get something ...... say a brain card for a Lincoln, a dist. in the canal zone gets called and it goes on a bus there.18-24 hours later it's in the bus station down the road about 1/2 hour on the PanAm highway. $6 flat rate 25 kilo max. Heavier/bulkier stuff goes on a truck and the rate becomes/kilo. The delivery charge on a 4 x 8 x 3/32 sheet of copper from Panama was just under $30.You can get ANYTHING related to construction-manufacturing-heavy eqip. in the canal zone at fairly decent prices.Gotta love the "Third world". I'm glad I upgraded ! Lay back and recharge.
