I just had to show you guys my good deal. I'm not bragging here but I know you guys, out of every body I know, will appreciate it.I had a pipe fence job last year that was a several thousand dollar job. The guy I was working for had a very successful lawn maintenace business. He told me that he was wanting to get more into land scaping. I noticed that he had an old Bobcat and told him that having it would certainly help him out. He told me that it didn't have enough power for that and he was going to buy a new one. I told him that I would be willing to knock some off the job in trade for the old skid steer. He thought about it a bit and said that he had just paid $500 dollars for 4 new tires. He said if I would knock $500 off the job then it was mine. Not being the good deal kind of guy, (I buy high and sell low) I said it seemed that if I buy 4 tires from you then you will throw in a Bobcat for nothing. He said damn, that's the way that came out and I started chewing my own *** out in my head and telling myself I was a dumb ***. He said , well that's what I said so it's yours. He even has the shop manual on it. He bought it from his neighbor who bought it new in 1977 and used it on his place for 30 years. The guy I bought it from used to on his place ever since. It has never been used commercially. It started right up but I could tell it had a head gasket leak. I had to fix that and change out a valve. I've rebuilt all four hydraulic cylinders and changed out the hydraulic fluid. With the original price I've now got about $1000 in it. My driveway is a mile long and I've just about got it perfect now. Now I want to build the quick change set up for the front so I can use forks to help move metal out side the shop. Here is a picture. It is a 610 model. Attached Images

Reply:I got a similar deal on a 610. I used it to plow my driveway last winter. I replaced the belt and a rebuilt a couple of the cylinders and changed out 2 hoses. Now the engine is sitting in my garage waiting for a top end. Not a bad little machine. Reply:I did a bunch of work overhauling a Bobcat 600D. so if you have any questions feel free to ask. The steering clutches can take a bit of work to get right, also check the disks are not worn out as changing out the pressure plates can get pricy I also made a nice sacrificer to run off the back of the machine that then connected to the rear aux hydraulics.Tiger Sales: AHP Distributor www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P, Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma. Reply:Very nice Bob, that will be handy as all get-out, as we say around here.
Reply:You got a great deal, Bob!! Just remember the way the bucket geometry is as the load is lifted it gets farther from the center of gravity until it's even w/ pins on the back of the lift arms. Long story short: if you're lifting a load that feels a little "iffy" 2 inches off the ground, it's only gonna get worse the higher you go. And if you do nose over and the load leaves the bucket/ forks, get ready for a real bad ride!!! Reply:I find that I totally suck as a Bobcat operator. I have been able to fill and smooth some pot holes in the driveway but it's going slow. I'm lucky that I have a good friend that is a good operator on any thing and he is showing me some techniques that is speeding up my learning curve a bunch.
Reply:I"ve seen a lot of fast bobcat skinners and I've seen a lot of good bocat skinners. But good, fast ones are few and very far between,LOL!! One last bit of advice: keep the tires aired up good and solid. If they get too soft it'll break bead real easy when turning sharp.
