Customer off the street needed a new bracket for his plate and LED tail light  fabbed up..He just said "Please make it look good"Using 1/8" 6061 plate and a piece of 1" 1/8"wall tubing  this is what I came up with..Pics are in order..1..Parts..2..Plate mount welded..3..Tube welded to the mount..4..Bracket and Lite..5..Wires come out the bottom..More next post.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Finished assy. on the bike..Now the bike is a hard tail..The rear fender and tire are NOT in line..The existing bolt holes are NOT straight...The owner has to drill another hole for the wires to come out under the fender..I drilled all holes slightly oversize so he can line everything up and tighten everything up in line with each other..There are NO prints..This is all from my brainbox..My own design..I get all the fun jobs......zap!Last edited by zapster; 11-16-2011 at 03:48 PM.I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:Another one off custom job from Zapster. I bet the guy would have ended up paying AT LEAST 3 times what you charged him for that if it had come from Harley-Davidson, H-D stands for High-Dollar by the way. If he polishes out the aluminum it can look almost like all the other chrome on the bike, lots of it on there for sure. When I first started reading the thread I was wondering if there would be a shot of the whole bike. Glad to see it at the end, just wish it were more of a side on shot, to better see the ride. At least he didn't ask too much on it "just make it look good". Looks like you accomplished that in short order.
Reply:Yeah, I'd want that loominum polished up all nice and purdy to put it on my ride. Gotta match all the chrome, you know. AKA, nice job Zap!PapaLincoln Idealarc 250 (circa 1962)Lincoln Weldpak 155 w/Mig KitLincoln Squarewave TIG 175

Reply:Nice!Buy American, or don't whine when you end up on the bread line.
Reply:I read HD ( heavy duty) and thought you needed a new license plate holder for your truck or maybe for a trailer... Guess you can tell I'm not a bike guy..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:Zap- the curves/cuts look pretty perfect.  How did you cut them?  cnc mill or cnc-plasma?  handheld plasma and finish edges with a grinder???  jigsaw/file?Lincoln AC225 & MigPak 140, Lincoln Magnum SpoolGun, Miller Spectrum 375-X Plasma, Syncrowave 200 TIG, Millermatic 252 MIG, Miller Digital Elite, General 7x12" horiz/vert bandsaw, 3' box/pan brake, 20 ton press, milling machine, 12x28 lathe, etc.
Reply:Hey Zap,Superb job..... that fellow biker should appreciate the job. Nice scoot.....tell the owner an 'ol biker in SW PA tips his hat. I had (2) hardtails in my youth.....a younger a$$ doesn't care about all those road dimples & crack vibrations streaming up the spinal column. Once you hit 40.......the "soft" saddle becomes a necessity. At 60, the buns need to get to a "road lounger".  The springer front end is beautiful....had (4) with springer/girder front ends like his.....nothing too radical.....too hard to manuever if an emergency situation suddenly manifested. Ok....tell him to get to the polishing now.DennyComplete Welding/Machine/Fab. Reply:The work looks great but being the owner of several Harleys I will go ahead and say that you will be repairing this in the future. The aluminum will not live long without a fatigue failure.Looks good though.

Reply:Interesting.   I'm not feeling 'happy' about the big open cut-outs where the bologna-cut round tube connects to the mounting tab for the light.  Can't really see it once the light is mounted, but I just don't like that open gap for some reason.  To each their own and all that.Hmmm, the Mk-II version made in the same design (closing off those gaps where the tube upright mounts to the light bracket though)  but using mirror-polished stainless steel !        Cause it's either that or make it out of plain steel and then have it triple-chrome-plated to bling with all the other chrome on the bike.    The best laid schemes ... Gang oft agley ...
Reply:Looks good Zap. Please tell me they didn't actually wire the tail light using the wire nuts shown in the pictures? If they did, please yell at them. That is a big  especially with vibrators known as Harley's. Not good. Your stuff looks great.kidtigger24  They think I’m crazy, but I know better. It is not I who am crazy. It is I who am MAD!
Reply:Zap, Nice work as always!  Like those safety shoes!  Best  Bob
