I have a Dynasty 200 DX....great. Recently inherited a relatively new LN-25 wire feeder. Since the LN-25 can be set to accept CC, can it be powered by the Dynasty in stick mode? I want to use it for MIG, not flux core.
Reply:You probably won't be happy with the results. VS feeders like that don't run short arc mig well at all. The feeder simply can't adjust fast enough with smaller wires to run right. Usually the only way these feeders work well is getting them up into spray, usually running FC wire. If you get spray, you will find out of position welds to be a real PITA. If you are thinking about using this like a "traditional" small 200 amp class mig for thin steel less than say 1/4", you won't find it will do what you want. I also doubt the Dynasty has the amps/duty cycle to run big wire in spray.Your best bet is most likely to sell the LN25 and just buy a stand alone mig if you want to do mig. That or get a powersource thats capable of CV..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear.
