Hi All -I've lurked around this site for about a year and finally decided to join; I guess my intro is better suited to this forum instead of the "intro" forum because of the pics.  Welding is something I fell into in 2001, a year after moving to Arizona.  Before this I taught high school (of all things) for two years.  I don't consider myself a terrific welder - I've never even picked up a TIG or tried a buzz box (I would love to, eventually) - but I enjoy designing and building the (sometimes) wacky stuff that pops into my head.  I'm a one person shop, with the exception of some help for transporting heavy installs, and I work primarily with steel.  Sometimes glass, aluminum, zinc, copper, stainless, plexiglass and mesquite find their way in, too.  Anyhow, here are some things I've done, and I look forward to learning from the folks on this site (mods feel free to delete if there are too many pics here):Last edited by A. Reply:Welcome,That gate's a monster piece of work and must have taken a long time to fabricate.  It's good looking work though, and something I'd be proud to call my own handiwork.Benson's Mobile Welding - Dayton, OH metro area - AWS Certified Welding Inspector

Reply:WOW, very impressive work!!  A couple of questions: In the 2nd post, what's the deal with the slide looking deal on the fireplace door?  And in the 5th post, tell us about that awesome table (3rd and 4th pics)  What's the material, how did you do the "swirl" effect?  I like seeing projects coming from people with a good imagination and artistic ability.  Keep the pics coming!DewayneDixieland WeldingMM350PLincoln 100Some torchesOther misc. tools

Reply:It's gonna take about 6 visits to the thread to download all the pics, or whatever happens.  Keep having to refresh to get 'em.Beautiful stuff.  I mean beautiful.  Must be some folks in your area not feelin' the pinch. The anchor holding the hinge in around the first few pics..... How was the cinder block reinforced to hold the hinge?  Were the cores concrete filled with vertical steel reinforcement?  Masonry attachment points are of real interest to me.  Hard to keep them from failing.   Thanks"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:ThanksIt's always been a sore point with me.  I used to do remodeling, and masonry was a bit# to attach to.We sorta passed by each other on the question.  I was refering to the large gate hinge, but you answered it.  Filling the core with concrete.Anytime you do the sort of stuff you do, you cross into a lot of other trades in order to match your needs for the work you're responsible for.  Nice stuff."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
