Which hood do I buy

Right now looking for an AD hood not looking to fork out a lot read a few reviews and a couple threads and just looking for something that will work for occasional yard use and getting a class I'm in. Was looking at a Northern one but unsure if the people who wrote the reviews know what their talking about

Reply:I too vote for the MILLER ELITE. You really got try them on and test drive . They all have good points but it's more of a personal thing.

Reply:I never used a cheap AD that let me see the puddle well. If you want AD spend some money. I use a Miller Digital Elite for AD and use a Fibermetal Pipeliner for passive lens. Reply:If it ain't fixed, it ain't sh*t. Pipeliner. You'll never regret it. Search the forum, there are ton's of threads about these. And you'll probably find me saying the same thing in every one of them.

Reply:I wouldn't spend big money without a test drive. I have a Digital Elite and a Snapon AD but I tested Optrel, Speedglas and an ArcOne. I'll say that none of them were bad but everyone of them had something I didn't like and chose the one that I was most happy with. Reply:I bought the Miller hobby-pro to replace my flip-up pipeliner when I started getting serious about welding, after I started tig I went to the Digital Elite for the low end performance. If you're going to use a foot pedal you need the lowest amp sensitivity. If you're welding MIG or stick and going to stay casual, go cheap. Reply:Why don't u buy a pipeliner helmet with an arc one auto lens! Great helmet and the arc one lens are crystal clear! Both of these together are cheaper then any of them fancy autodarkening helmets
