I'd like to move up from my Victor mini tanks (the same size they sell at HF & elsewhere) to large tanks so I don't have to fill them so often. My tips are w-1. The following questions might be a bit tough to answer but I thought I'd ask them anyway:1. I use AirGas to exchange tanks. If I purchase a tank like one in the photo on Craigslist, how do I know AirGas will take them for exchange (IOW, I don't want to buy a tank only to find it is not accepted)2. I was told by AirGas that my fittings (couplings?) won't connect to the big tanks. Someone else told me they make adapters. Any info on this? Reply:actually, it's not w-1; not sure what my victor tips are at this pointDave VUSMC '74-'95South Bend 9A lathe 1942Marquette stick welder, oxy/acy, FCAWBuild 7/8 scale trains
Reply:I don't like using adapters on inert gas. I will not use them on accelerants or combustibles. buy some new regulators, or connectors to install on your gauges. have you thought of having the seller meet you at the gas store? you might toss a little more money in the deal for his gas.Dynasty 200DXPassport plus w/ spoolmate 100victor 315c oxy/(act and prop)Miller digital elitemilwaukee power tools
Reply:+1 what Turk said, have the seller bring the tank(s) to the store.  If they give their blessings, then you hand over the cash.  Bigger tanks are more cost effective.

Reply:It also depends on how big of tanks you have.  My LWS will not refill larger tanks (e.g. 250 cuft) if customer owned, they only lease them.
Reply:thanks; it seems I'd be doing the seller a favor by taking the tanks to airgas and seeing what they say, then if I don't decide to buy them, the seller can advertise them as "certified" by xthe welding city link looks very useful. I think I'll give them a callthanks all!Dave VUSMC '74-'95South Bend 9A lathe 1942Marquette stick welder, oxy/acy, FCAWBuild 7/8 scale trains
