This is a guillotine that cuts scrap plastic before re-cycling..The cutting edge was shot so we made a new one out of tool steel..The main plate is just regular cold rolled..Got it REAL sharp and then welded it to the main plate..You should have seen the old on we replaced..It would not even cut butter!I used 309 stainless and it is working just fine!I kept the welds under the surface so no grinding/blending was needed..I get all the fun jobs.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

When I 1st read the title I read it as you were working on a "plastic knife", not a knife for cutting plastic... and I thought "OK now I've seen him weld everything..." Reply:What kind of tool steel, what heat-treat state, and how did you put the edge on? Just curious; a while ago I found a piece of scrap steel, about 2.5" x 0.5" x 8' IIRC and it is a proprietary form of M-3. Haven't yet thought of a use for it.
