Hello guys, I'm just new at this field. I have AC/DC arc machine that i want to convert to TIG for steel welding practices, I have torch, argon, rod. But my problem I confused where I will connect the onepiece cable of torch in positive or negative. My welding machine doesn't have switch polarity for AC/DC, but in under the machine I can see 4 terminal, the 2 is for DC and the other 2 for AC. I know I will connect the cable torch in DC but which of the terminal a positive + or negative -. Somebody told me that if my machine doesn't have switch for AC/DC, I should connect the cable torch in negative, But if my machine have switch for AC/DC then I will connect it in positive. Which is correct? I don't see any switch in machine that can choose AC or DC, I just saw a terminal under the machine for AC and DC which cable can connect.
Reply:To TIG in DC, your torch needs to be on the NEG (-) terminal.
