What gloves do you use and why???Yeah, I know some of you don't use any gloves.. but I am and will... I am still using my gloves from mig on tig... and I am beginning to notice that I need a glove with a better feel.
Reply:Tillman 1470 goatskin my favorite gloves, you can feel everything with them and they fit nice and snug.I like to party!

Reply:I picked up a set of TILLMAN's today...  much better feel than those thick Mig gloves I was using..
Reply:I use Tillmans, don't recall the number but they are the white ones with the yellow cuffs. In fact I use them in the summertime for mig and stick as well (it's hot and humid here and I take all the help I can get). They outlast most of the stick gloves. The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist.
Reply:i use the new Miller TIG gloves. a bit more $$ but i been verry happy with them. summer is here, plant a tree for mother earth. if you dont have time or space, sponcer some one else to plant one for you.feel free to shoot me a PM or e-mail me at [email][email protected] i got lots of time.
Reply:Tillman yellow cuff. Thin and soft.

Reply:I wear Black Stallion Tigster gloves now. Never seen them before but they had a bunch at the LWS last time I went for wire. I tried some on and they where very comfortable so I bought them. I must say I like them very much. When I'm welding I can't tell I have a glove on. And the outside of the palm has an extra layer of leather to protect from heat. I like that because I got that part of my hand hot quite often.Lincoln PowerMIG 215XTLincoln Precision TIG 225Hypertherm 300
Reply:I just used tillman stick gloves. Works perfectly for me. I tried those thin tillman tig gloves but got rid of them after the first day when i burnt a hole through the finger tip from accidentally touching the work piece.
Reply:Tillman 810 torch hand.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:I use a light mig glove for my torch hand(left) and a thin glove for my filler hand(Right). Until I start a big piece of aluminum, where I will be hitting it with max amps for a while. Then, I go up to a thick glove for the torch hand, and just deal with it. I hate burning myself. But one thing helps a lot: the liquid cooled torch. Man, it runs a good bit cooler than the air cooled. And then, after so much work...... you have it in your hand, and you look over to your side...... and the runner has run off. Leaving you holding the prize, wondering when the runner will return.
Reply:I have used both.. and yes the water cooler is a good bit cooler...

Reply:i've been pretty happy with the tilman version of the tigster gloves that are posted above. but most of what i do is .045 and under so 130 amps is about all i see. i had a job where they supplied us with the heavy cotton butcher style gloves and those were good as well, plus they were cheap. if i needed something for more heat i would use a thick cut mig glove
Reply:one time ina pinch I used a pair a of Franklin batting gloves.  Worked well Inside a boiler or in a tight spot somewhere at work you use what you got.  Usually, simple tig gloves, although some of the contractors will give some reall nice ones.all I want in my life are....... white castle cheese burgers
Reply:We use the Miller white tig gloves here.

Reply:when i tig, i just use one right handed (or left handed, whichever hand i'm welding with at the time) leather, "drivers"  glove and my wire hand is bare.. when i stick, i use one leather glove on my stinger hand (usually right) and a jersey glove on my left..if you're not livin on the edge, you're takin up too much room..

Reply:Tillman has a couple of videos on YouTube about their different models of gloves and the materials used. Was pretty informative for me.Don't have the site address handy but a search on YouTube for how to select tig gloves should bring up their video and the related ones.AlA man is judged by what's between his legs...always ride a good horseMiller DialArc HFLincoln Classic 300DThermal Arc 181iPowermax 45Scotchman Ironworker(2) BridgeportsOkomota Surface GrinderAutoCAD 2010
Reply:I use the tillman gloves to but I also take a old pair of welding gloves and cut the thumbs off and slide them over my pinky fingers then I can stick out my pinkys for support. takes the shake out and does'nt burn your hands up on the hot metal.    revpol
Reply:Originally Posted by ZacOverall, I am satisfied with the Tigster gloves, but they could stand some improvement.  Longer (1-2") gauntlets and more durable leather that is equally supple would be great.  As they are now, they would probably only last a couple months if used full time.  They do offer superior dexterity to the other welding gloves I've tried.Dredging up old thread to ask...   I have Tillman 24Cs right now, as well as a pair of these Miller industrial TIG gloves ( http://www.millerwelds.com/products/...ndustrial/tig/ ).  The Tillmans are fine, except that they don't have much heat protection.  I was welding wide-open the other night ( AC @ 180 amps ) and could only run a bead of a few inches before the heat on the back of my hand forced me to stop.  I won't weld that hot very often, but I'd like more protection when I do.  The Tillman 24C doesn't have it.  The Miller gloves, in the smallest size they make ( large, according to their site ), have thumbs big enough for a Sasquatch, so they don't work very well.   Does anyone make a TIG glove, or similar, that can handle ~200a heat?  Preferably something that fits human-sized hands    Thanks.__David Hillman
Reply:When doing TIG I usually only use a glove on the torch hand, but use Miller MIG gloves when doing above 150 amps,.but even the the MIG gloves can sometimes get too hot, so recently I got a couple of TIG Fingers from WeldingTipsandTricks.com and now use one of them over the finger that's taking the most heat. They make a big difference in comfort, even when using my TIG gloves on lower levels. Since using them I haven't been burning the fingers out of my gloves as quickly as I used to either.CharleyMiller MM252Miller Bobcat 225NTMiller DialArc HF / DIY Cooler2 Victor O/A TorchsetsMilwaukee 8" Metal SawMilwaukee Dry Cut "Chop" Saw 5 Ton Wallace Gantry Various Grinders, Benders, etc.

Reply:I use goat skin gloves from the local fleet farm.
Reply:I used to use Steiner deer skin tig gloves but the seams always seemed to come apart rather quickly. My latest pair are Tillman Black Onyx and they are holding up nicely.I generally only wear a glove on my filler hand but there have been times I put a tig glove on my torch hand and a mig glove on my filler hand.
Reply:I have some Black Stallion TIG gloves that have some nice features for higher amp TIG:1.  "drag patch" - an extra layer of leather on the side/butt/heel of your palm - (right where I find I often want to rest it against hot metal)2.  it has a layer of foam behind the fingers, and the back of the palm.  This foam layer does impede dexterity a little bit.  (Compared back to back with Tillman 42C's, the tillmans are more dexterous, without a doubt.  I also like the Tillman kid skin material a little better than the black stallion kid skin.)  But it will all but eliminate the "back of hand feeling hot" sensation.Basically, I think they are great for medium-amp TIG.  Now if you grab onto something hot, the grabbing surfaces are still just thin "kid skin" (young goat) so you're going to feel that right away!  Also, for touching the torch or filler rod hands to anything *really* hot, you need a "TigFinger"
Reply:i picked up these Hobart deerskin gloves yesterday.. $15 with a 15% discount at Rural King. Attached Imagestackleexperts.comwww.necessityjigs.comhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/mach...dingequipment/
