I'm going to be changing a few things on my newly aquired welder/trailer. I'm going to move the spring perches back so the weight centre of the machine sits over the axles as the P.O. mounted it weight-aft axle. I'm also considering lengthening the whole thing for easier reversing and making room to a storage chest of some sort. I'm not a fan of the round fenders as tools slip off - I might bend up some checker plate to replace these. If I had a wider axle, I'd make cablechests on either side of the machine so they could be locked up when not in use. (99.9% of time)I'd like to see other setups to get some ideas...feel free to post your pics Attached ImagesThermal Arc Fabricator 2101970 Lincoln RedfaceMiller 150 STLStill need a Syncrowave and a plasma and a milling machine and a lathe and a bigger shop and a....
Reply:I have a question for you: how does that thing pull down the road? I ask because I had an SA on an axle and it was really bouncy when I pulled it at decent speeds. An effect I assumed came from too little weight on the axle.... anyways, Ive always thought that a locking collar that came down over the caps of the bottles would be nice to keep people from stealing them. Also,I dont know how excited I would be to pull your trailer down the road with bottles on it as it is in that picture... a little chain around them..... I donno, just makes me nervous
Reply:The first pic is my old SA on a trailer I built. thats the bouncy one. pulled real nice and straight but...  The second pic is of a skid I made for my trailblazer. Just posting it as a possible idea for a trailer set up.. Bottles have a set screw under the top tray that keeps each of them from clanking around. Attached Images
Reply:Here is mine under construction.  I will be mounting a Trailblazer 302 in front of the utility box so that I can have better use of the bed area. Attached ImagesJay DavisAWS-CWIC-60 Specialty Welding ContractorLoving husband, and father of two boys (
Reply:This is my back up rig, it is self contained, and I can just drop it on a job. The torches mount in front of the machine.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."

Reply:I just play around otherwise I would have a truck. Here is a trailer I built around an air compressor axle, tongue and fenders. My welder came with a trailer, but since I live next to the ghetto called chitcago, I have to take it off every night. So I built this skid to make it easier. Also, I built a cylinder tote. It all fits on pretty nice. If I need to haul material or scrap, I will load the welding equipment on the bobcat trailer."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! Reply:Bigger trailer is needed with those damn things. A co-worker of mine years back was driving home from work out of town on a friday night and had his welder in the back of his company truck, but also was towing a lincoln like yours. He didn't see the exit in time and pulled into the breakdown lane. He throws it into reverse and floors it to beat the traffic to the off ramp. next thing you know he hears crunching and tires chirping. He forgot about the welder and didn't see it being so narrow. He bent up the tongue and snapped peices off of it. He had to dig scrap angles iron out of the truck and scab the thing back together. Welding on the side of the highway in the dark. What a night.CERTIFICATIONS:7018M- H.V.O10718M- H.V.O11018M- H.V.O9N10- H.V.O71T-1-HYM- H.O.V100S1 PULSE ARC 0,035- H.O.V100S1 PULSE ARC 0.045- H.O.VER70S-3 PULSE ARC 0.035 H.O.VER70S-3 PULSE ARC 0.045 H.O.VER5554- H.O.V

The channel with the rollers on it can be swung around and pinned to the skid to allow moving it with his hay spears on his tractor for those hard to reach area's.   Oh the axle is what I've been working on for the last 2 1/2 days. It's not finished yet but he's taking it for the finishing. It'll be going on a large pull behind spray rig. Reply:More pics the last two are of my work in progress (though progress has been nil for the last 6 months, to busy) for my big welder in the last pic. Reply:Thanks for the posts - some good looking rigs here. I'll be keeping mine sitting high so I can open the side doors as I don't have the means to pull it off the trailer for service.Thermal Arc Fabricator 2101970 Lincoln RedfaceMiller 150 STLStill need a Syncrowave and a plasma and a milling machine and a lathe and a bigger shop and a....

Reply:This was my trailer I built about 20 years ago. I sold it to a friend who had a larger business than mine. He still uses it to this day. Attached Images

Reply:He has about a dozen employees and does just about anything metal related, buildings included. When I built it, I built a lot of buildings and still do. He just needed it to be able to take more machines to his bigger jobs. He paid dearly for it.It has a 4'x8' table that folds out from the other side. There are also drawers under the forward part of the deck. The expanded metal on the top lets you use it for an elevated work platform. It was a good trailer to work off of.
Reply:In progress. Tool box & Bobcat NT bolted down so far. Next comes bottle & cable racks. Attached Images
