Going to look at a Syncrowave 200 tomorrow, 4 years old, one owner.  Anything specific I need to be on the lookout for?  Individual owner, garage only/hobby use, no production type work.I've only had experience on a Dynasty 200 SD, it will be up and running so I can test it out. Also price recommendations?  Welder, torch, foot pedal, regulator, extra tungstens, stainless/aluminum filler rod and a 3x4 3/8" plate welding table (I've seen pics) the welder looks very clean, table a piece meal job, nothing to write home about.TIA
Reply:here's the manual.http://www.millerwelds.com/om/o225389u_mil.pdfIf you look in there it will tell you what buttons to push in what sequence to bring up the arc strikes and run hours. That will give you some sort of idea how much it was used. Usually I see them from as low as $1100 to $1500 or so depending on what comes with them. I'm not aware of any specific issue with the machine and I have one about that age..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:What would be an average amount of arc strikes run hours for a 4 year old welder?
Reply:Hard to say. All depends on what sort of work they did and how they were using it. Run hours is how long the machine was powered up. That could mean they turned it on at 8 am and left it on til 5, but only welded  for a short time. Arc strickes would tell you how many times they struck an arc. If it was being used for stick, that might be quite a bit. Tig on the other hand might have less arc starts or more depending on what and how they were welding.Think of it this way... in theory a work year is 2000 hrs. so if it was used all year for 4 years it would have 8000 hrs on the clock. If It's only got say 1000, you know that it was only run about 6 1/4 weeks a year ( assuming 40 hrs per week and no weekends)  or about 5 hrs a week and wasn't used all that much. If It's got 12000 hrs, it was probably used on at least 2 shifts a day pretty hard.  If the guy says "we never used it much..." and you pull up a ton of hours on the meter, either they never bothered to turn it off, or he's blowing smoke.... You can also use the hours/strikes to talk price. " man 1000 hrs seems like a lot... How about I offer you $1200 for it?".No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Thanks DSW/Forum, proud owner of a Syncro 200, with.... wait for it, 90 hours on the clocks.  Includes, 200, Weldcraft 9 and 17 torches, foot pedal, regulator, about 40 tungstens and 5 bundles of stainless/aluminum filler rods.  Decided against the table/chair..... $1,200 OTD.VERY HAPPY!
Reply:Very nice. Looks like the WP17 in the pict has a gas lense on it as well. At 90 hrs that machine is almost "new". These are the kind of deals to look out for if you want to get an AC/DC tig. A top quality, lightly used, industrial machine for a good price. Used is some times a crap shoot, but with only 90 hrs, and probably only a fraction of that actually welding, there's almost no risk with a machine like this.. In all likely hood you probably won't outgrow that machine unless you get into some serious fab work. You'll be very happy with that machine.  It's a huge step over what you would have gotten if you'd bought say a Diversion at that price. The Syncrowaves stick and tig weld very nice, and  hold thier value well. If in a couple of years you want to upgrade to a larger machine, or a more portable unit like  a Dynasty 200, I would not be at all surprised if you can't get almost every penny you just spent back again if you sell it. Kind of like getting the use of the machine for free..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:WP9 is in the pic, the 17 is red/gray.  I would consider the 90 hours new also, he also commented he has accidentally left the machine on overnight, he was stunned for a second when I did the boot sequence to view the run time, he was like wtf is he doing, wait, what is that.  I almost laughed out loud when I saw 90, I think it was like under 500 arcs. Thanks again and yes, I plan on being happy for a long time and probably won't look to upgrade until at least the current dynasty 200dx's replacement comes along. Now I just gotta fab up an Awesome welding table to match
Reply:Wow that is very dang nice!!!
Reply:Save your pennies and get a Sync 250. Trust me on this.
