Can someone help me with my Miller Tig?

I have come across an OLD Miller Maxstar 150 with a Miller 251D-1 High Frequency Box. I have set up everything according to the instructions and have gas regulated at 15. I am using a 3/32 Tungsten Rod. It seems that I have no control with my foot pedal, the welds are VERY Hot no matter what how low I set the amperage.. I got this unit at a good price. All the TIG welding that I have done was with a new unit than this.

Reply:I don't know anything about that machine. There is Amperage control switch on the welder, have you tried it set to remote? Also try setting the HF-251 to remote. There is only a few things to change on that machine so a little trial and error should find the results you want. Reply:You will need a control cable, pin conectors, to connect the welder out put to the HF box. I think the HF box takes 9 pins, my newer max star is a 6 pin, I think. The foot pedal is connected to the HF box. Reply:Your HF251 uses a 14 pin cable to connect to your welder, then your pedal plugs into the 251.
