does anyone have any tips on welding this piece from a brake,was going to v out,preheat and weld with cast rod.am worried about heaving doing it from one side.thanks Attached Images

Reply:By brake I assume you mean a metal brake and not a vehicles brakes? I dont think I would consider welding a cast part of a vehicles brakes but if its the former then I would do what you are planning and just make sure you get plenty of penetration

Reply:Hey aarc,That repair can be done easily with a MIG, 309L(.030), C2(98/2) AR/CO2. This is what I use for 99% of the cast repairs I do. No pre-heating necessary, peaning immediately after welding, & only a 1/2" at a time. This has never failed for me so far. Just some fodder to contemplate.DennyComplete Welding/Machine/Fab.
