I just got a new 450 amp Tregaskiss Tough Gun when the opportunity came along to pick one up for $100. It plugs right into my MillerMatic. I'm trying to understand their consumables, though, and not doing so great. To wit: they have standard contact tips, heavy duty contact tips, and extra heavy duty contact tips. I understand the HD tips never get welded in even from extremely heavy use, like often used to happen with the Miller M25 guns at a welding school I used to be associated with. OK, I'm willing to spring for the heavy duty contact tips. So what the heck are the extra heavy duty contact tips? ???Also - they have nozzles in standard and heavy duty also. And the HD nozzles are pricey! I'm comparing a 5/8" bore nozzle with 1/8" tip recess between standard (401-4-62) and the same in HD (401-6-62) and the one is like $5 and the other is like $16! That's a big difference! I'm willing to be flexible, but I'd like to know *why* the heavy duty nozzle is worth more money.metalmagpie |
