Hello, I've been hanging around here since I bought my welder last summer and haven't had much to say other than this truly is a great group of people with talents far beyond me. Over the past year I haven't had a whole lot of time to weld as it is just a hobby. Out of the projects I have done, here are my three favorites. The first one is a lowered, rat rod radio flyer for my daughter. And 2nd is a fireplace grate that I made for the inlaws for Christmas:And 3rd is a baby gate I made for the deck. It serves two purposes...keeps the baby on the deck and the dogs off of the deck when we don't want them up there.
Reply:Nice work! "Every choice you make will effect at least one other person"
Reply:Nice work. Looks like you have a good helper or product tester to.
Reply:I can't hardl see your work for looking at that gorgeous little girl. From what I can see, the work looks real good as well.
Reply:Very nice indeed, I see this hobby is going to grow legs and take off on ya. Keep up the good work. Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk 2

Reply:Thanks guys, I'm pretty fond of her myself. I fully intend on her being my little shop buddy. I want her to be a girlie girl with a touch of tomboy. I currently have a Hobart Handler 140 but im running nothing but flux core through it right now until I get my bottle setup.
Reply:Very pretty work, but I need to point out that you should have an extra pair of bars in the baby gate.  It's too easy for a child's head to get stuck in that one.
Reply:In picture 5 in the first post where the gate is on the stands, are the bottoms of the stands made out of weights for lifting? Like for bench pressing? If so that's pretty funny cuz that's about the most use they would see at my house too!

Reply:Nice work! I think I recognize that radio flyer. Were y'all at the Lone Star Roundup?
Reply:Yeah, I had thought about her head getting stuck in there. I hope it doesn't happen but I think her head is small enough and the holes are big enough that it won't happen. If it does, break out the angle grinder! I wouldn't have been at the Lonestar Roundup because I live in Missouri but I googled it and it seems like it would be a good time for sure! She needs this hood for sure:

Reply:Originally Posted by BistineauThat gal looks like she might open a Big can of whoop a$$ on ya if you took HER hood and gave it to YOUR daughter. Best to get your daughter her own hood rather than that one, at least maybe one Like that one.Go ahead and add the extra bars to the gate to eliminate any chance of her or another kid(or your dogs) from getting a head hung up in the gate. Remember, her head will be bigger than it is now, sooner than you know it and she might not be the only kid sticking their head in there. Don't want to end up like this just because you didn't heed good advice. A few moments of inattention to what's going on could be disasterous. You say "I hope it doesn't happen", what if it does and nobody is around quick enough to help? Add the bars, it only takes a few minutes either way.
Reply:it comes back to me that when i built a little swingset for grandson i researched playground equipment and openings must not be less than 10"..
Reply:I'm not real concerned about it, but I did check my local codes and the restrictions on openings are all described as being pertinent to a PERMANENT structure. Given the fact that the gate doesn't fit that, I don't care. If it doesn't pass code when we go to sell the house, 6 screws and the whole assembly is gone. Simple as that.
Reply:not to beat it to death..but i never wanna hear a kid got hurt..i dont give dogturds about code compliance..but codes reflect lessons learned , usually learned from troubles....so i check them for guidance , to determine what is safe and what isnt..
