would $1500. be to much for this welder? brand new never been wired up. No accessories.
Reply:$1500 is on the high end of what I usually see used for those machines. Brand new, never wired for that price sounds fishy for some reason though. Do you know any history behind why it was never used and is up for sale? Not saying it's stolen or a scam, but a machine that sells new for $3400, being sold for $1500 with nothing else makes me wonder what's going on... If I had the cash I'd certainly look into it, but I'd be very cautious and want to make sure it is as advertised and it will work..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth! Ronald Reagan

Reply:What's up with the warranty? What I mean is, does it start fresh when you get it, or is it out of warranty already? If I didn't know the person and the story first hand, I would check the SN with Miller. If all is gravy, I would have no problem saving $2k on a brand new machine. Reply:i already have a basic tig set up and a couple hundred feet of welding lead ground and positive cables that go to my bobcat 225 propane setup. i dont have the warranty info or serial # yet. when i get it i will check the # and eat it if it is a bad # but will turn the person in for selling stolen merchandise. but i do believe his story after talking to him about on the phone.

Reply:dads were so smart back before we were old enough to realize it.if it sounds to good to be true then it probably is he always told me. hmmm. well the welder is brand new and serial checks out to be not stolen. the warranty is out. not to concerned about that part as it is new and never been hooked up. but the problem is it is a export model for 3 phase 400 volts and can not be converted cost effectively for U.S. electricity. not checked into shipping to Europe yet but if i can find anybody interested i would check into shipping.so that is the story . brand new never been hooked up miller XMT 304 welder 400 volts 3 phase.
Reply:Did you sell the machine already?

When i saw the ad in craigslist i thought it had to be a typo and was going to let it go. Changed my mind and called the guy. Machine had never been used, new, manufactured. In 2011. Drove to his home, a nice home, and guy comes out, shows me the unit and i gave him the cash.I asked if he had any other calls and he told me five or six people called but each one asked the same thing. Did it weld aluminum? I want to thank those dumb axx's for allowing me to pick this up. I listed one of my 304's for sale and if i get the sale price it will just about cover the cost of this new unit.Moral of the story; if something seems to good to be true don't let that turn you away from a buy. People unload things all the time out of need, or fatigue or whatever. About 7 months ago i bought 10 k 's worth of welding equipment for 3500 from a guy in alabama. Two big items were an xmt 456 with an s74 feeder both brand new in 2008. I won't even bother to list all the other stuff, including 400 feet of 2/0 cable still on two spools. That was an ebay buy; in fact i posted it on the miller site and then seconds later went back to ebay and bought it. |
