Does the average A/D helmet run off of any ambient light or does it need to be sun light or arc light?
Reply:Actually, any light will do.  The photo cell will charge the internal battery while your welding, while it's sitting in the house (if you have the constant on type), etc.My old Lincoln Viking was like this.The new Jackson is about the same I think.  It will work with batteries under low light conditions, and stay on for 8 hours working with the photo cells until automatic shutoff.Don't know about other brands"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
