Hi I been looking for an inverter tig for some time now and an opportunity has risen and I am getting tired of looking.  I was basically on the verge of buying an everlast 250 until I found this 200dx.Would you pay $3000 cash not tax or shipping on that for a 200dx with 6 months of warranty used up already if it was in your town?  Also offerred $3200 with a small bottle of argon not even full.It really is pushing my budget but the 200dx is the machine I really want deep down inside.  The 250ex may agree with my budget more, but I can't help but feel the 200DX will be worth it in resale value.  But comparing apples to apples its going to cost me $1100 more and I get 50amps less and smaller duty cycle and 6 months less warranty in this case.Give me some advice here!
Reply:Don’t even bother with the Everlast 250. I won’t go into details, but look around on here and you will see why. I paid $3000 for my Dynasty 200DX 5 years ago. Mine came with the contractor kit and a 60 cu ft bottle of argon. If yours is just the machine, I would say don’t bother. And an extra $200 for a half empty bottle is too much. I just got a 60 cu ft bottle from airgas for $120 with a free first fill.kidtigger24  They think I’m crazy, but I know better. It is not I who am crazy. It is I who am MAD!

Reply:I'd definatley go with the Dynasty over that other option. It's simply a better machine in every way.You might check out these guys.http://suttongarten.thomasnet-naviga...ing-equipment?Several members here have picked up used machines from them in the past. They list the Dynasty 200 SD's for $2K-$2.5K. Not sure about what comes with them or how used they are.  You'd have to give them a call. They were very helpful on the phone when I dealt with them last year. If you download the manual from Miller it will tell you how to pull up the arc starts and run timer for the Dynasty so you can check the run time on the one you are looking at to compare hours.I'd agree $200 is high for just the cylinder. With the contractor kit it's better. In general the contractor kit itself is usually overpriced when new. You can get a better deal if you piece the torch, leads and reg together seperately most of the time. You can get the bare Dynasty 200 DX  new from Cyberweld for  less than $3K. Start putting parts together and  it will be higher than what he wants, but not by much.http://store.cyberweld.com/miactigwe...FUh-5QodGnC8jA.No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Does the contractor kit include a water cooled and torch?  If it's aircooled, it doesn't seem like that great a deal.
Reply:That's a good deal more than I would pay for an air cooled set-up.You need to do more digging.Contractor kit isn't much of a deal for the money. I've had three 200 DX's now and saved a ton piecing my own set-up using Radnor components from airgas. And I rigged mine 50ft long. The seller paid too much in the beginning and is now not wanting to take a beating.2 1/2 years ago that was a $2600 machine for the machine only. You can get a NEW machine with the option of accessing the menu without shutting it down for just under 3 grand and it will have 3 YEARS of warranty. A MUCH better value IMO.If you are in Canada then never mind.Miller Dynasty 700Miller 350P with Aluma-pro push-pullMiller 280 Dynasty with expansion card Dynasty 200 DXMigMax 215 Enuff power and hand tools to create one of anything..... but mass produce nothing!!!
Reply:Originally Posted by kidtigger24I didn't realize they went up that much. For the right price, I don't think a used 200DX is a gamble. I've had mine for 6 years now and have had it in the shop 0 times. It's built like a tank and just plain works. Same can't be said about the other TIG you were looking at. As long as the machine doesn't look like it's been though World War 3, you should be good to go. Good Luck.kidtigger24
Reply:I'd try and jew him down a little, 3000 seems pretty steep for a used dynasty, even in Canada..

Reply:$3000 does seem steep when the new one is $2980 plus $620 for the contractor kit.  So $3000 versus $3600 for the new.  That's what? 16% discount for the used?  I'd probably keep saving your pennies a little longer and spring for the new one.  Or keep looking for a better used deal.Isn't the Canadian dollar strong against the US dollar right now?  The $3600 I quoted is US dollars.  If you know someone south of the border that will let you ship to their place, maybe you can order via the internet (no tax and most places drop ship from direct from miller with no shipping charges to you) then pick it up at their place.  You didn't say exactly where you're located so maybe that's not a option.Technically you have no warranty on the used one.  From the owner's manual "Miller.... warrants to its original retail purchaser....".  Not that miller would ever play that card, but legally they can.Dynasty200DX w/coolmate1MM210MM VintageESAB miniarc161ltsLincoln AC225Victor O/A, Smith AW1ACutmaster 81IR 2475N7.5FPRage3Jancy USA1019" SBAEAD-200LE

Reply:Originally Posted by con_fuse9The reason he had to drop his price because he was completely unreasonable.http://www.ebay.com/itm/MILLER-DYNAS...item1e61375da6Pretty much the same price they've been all year. With Dynastys you need to check serial number - make sure they are a newer one with Blue Lightning.  You should also check arc time and number of arc strikes.  Seems a little foolish to pay 97% of new price for a used unit.   Oh, and depending on how you read the fine print, Miller only _has_ to uphold the warranty to the original purchaser.  Miller doesn't seem to enforce that clause, but its there and it changes the value of that box.On the flip side, I built my own ground cable, got a Wp17 with colets including gas lens for $50 'used' (never actually used, just not legally new) and a foot pedal for another $50 (Craigslist).  I think I have probably $50 in the ground cable.  Call it $150 for the contractor kit.  Brand new 80 cu ft bottles are $140 shipped empty to your door.  Argon fill about $30 - maybe $40 if you are a sucker. At $3200 you are doing him a favor.  Offer $2500 or save up a few weeks and get a new one shipped to your door (free shipping, no tax).
