You can have a mig and a plasma cutter and an OA setup for what one of these machines cost and thus do a lot more. It is a sub 1/8" material welding device for the most part. good for the hobbyist but they are looking to spend a couple hundred not a couple of thousand.... and the serious weldor already has machines that do everything this does... a second or 3rd version of this with more power could be a real cool product...The technology and the company are legit, good quality control and I would expect the customer service to be first rate...
Reply:Hello Everyone, Saw this thread and thought I would chime in. I had a buch of people asking about the capability of the steam shielded plasma for sheet metal and tubing welding for aircraft construction. I was never able to find any real engineering data on weldments made with the process from a US lab. I have put in an offer to the multiplaz USA people to have our metalurgical lab mount some sections of weldments done with their system and evaluate things like weldor technique, fillers, fluxes etc on weld quality. Maybe also some tensile and fatigue tests. Hopefully something comes of it as there seems to be a lot of intrest in the machine but not much if any published independent testing from here in the US. So far I have advised people to not use it for welding aircraft components as there is no engineering to support it. Is this kind of testing something that any of you would be seriously interested in?
Reply:If Miller, Lincoln, and a couple other big companies don't make it, personally I would not drop 2K on it....and i think it kinda looks like junk. |
