Bought used XMT 304 help

Greetings, new to the site...I just bought a used Miller XMT 304 from eBay, it was a former rental unit.  I just powered it up to test it, the meters came on, etc, plugged in stick cables from my old buzz box and didn't even get a spark.  Then hooked up my voltmeter to the output connectors and no movement at all on any setting.  Just wondering before I open the thing up if there's something simple I can look for or should I just try to get my money back.  I used Miller machines at work years ago, mostly ran a Syncrowave which was absolutely bulletproof, but know nothing about this particular unit.  Would appreciate any advice.Thanks

Reply:Hi, thanks.  I have it set on stick.  Remote switch set on panel, and both displays seem to be working.  Wondering if there may be fusible link inside or some such thing.  The volt and amp readings kind of go up and down which might be normal but what concerns me is that there is absolutely no voltage at the output.
Reply:T here are fuses in the back, but I don't think you would get a display. I don't repair them just use and abuse. Try googling Miller welds and a link for a manual will come up. Reply:@ SheckyW -  Welcome to WW.  Also run an XMT304 CC/CV.  Your model same?  As Drf255 mentioned, contact EvilBay today.  Advise them that you experienced operating problems immediately:  No arc light achieved.  The truth.  You sound technically sauve; however, advise against going down the rabbit hole too far only to find out that parts A, B, and C need replacement.  Completing a visual inspection and basic troubleshooing a la Fluke and owner's manual is cool.Start the documentation trail with the seller and advise condition of the unit.  Protect your six!"Discovery is to see what everybody else has seen, and to think what nobody else has thought" - Albert Szent-Gyorgyi
Reply:First check that your welder is set to run on the voltage your trying to use  it on. Some of these welders can be set to run on 230v single phase power and up to 575v 3 phase power.  Some are only 575v 3 phase welders. Reply:Thanks everyone.  This machine will run on single or 3 phase - I have it hooked up to 230V.  Agree it might not even be a good idea to take the cover off at this point, like I said there should be some open circuit voltage at the output connectors - 20-30 VDC I would think??  I will contact the seller and let them know today.
Reply:Ensure that's it's set up to run on 230v single phase. The previous owner may have been using it on higher voltage power. I don't think the XMTs auto link to different voltages and phases on their own.
