delving into the unknown again I have a project that I would like to get working. I have some er308 1/16 rod, and need to join a piece of 1 inch SS tubing to a piece of flat stock thats carbon steel. Can that work? I planned on using my tig.
Reply:309 is preferred for ss to steel.Use the 308 if this isn't fussy application. The tube wall thickness and the flat stock thickness isn't specified by you.Blackbird
Reply:1/8 carbon to .062 SS tubing and no its not a critical joint. I need to make a holder so the tubing is 4 inches long. welded on the flat stock. kinda like a pencil holder. I should have mentioned that. I am using ss cause that is what I have that fits.
Reply:Go for it!
Reply:Thanks I will fire things up and melt some rod
