Weld ring for 54" pipe NI 55 3/32 rod

We put $1000 of rod to this pipe. DIP 54" two welders 8 hours Attached Images
Reply:weld ring? do you mean a backing ring? If so do you have any Pics of the ring in the pipe .
Reply:My only question as probly alot of other peoples here is Why 3/32" rods on that size of pipe? Is that the procedure,root pass, or yall welding all the way out with them? Reply:we have our own welding yard. I think it was 92 that day radio was going crazy pipe forman cut the pipe to short only had the 3/32. hurry up can't wait! wheres the pipe! They think it takes an hour to weld this. they call it a weld ring here. It a backing ring when it comes from US pipe.

Reply:Do you use alot of the backing rings?   I have a question  do you know if there is a stamp in the inside of the ring at one of the ends that gives the size heat #  then ROB at the end ? The reason I ask is I work for one of the only Co's that make backing rings , it is always nice to see our product in use and know I had made the ring .

Reply:I finished a joint, last one on the job- 115 degree boiler room. Just gloves, mask and cotton shirt, only one joint right? No biggie! Burnt both forearms raw like a lobster.Ill never burn without gear again. Heat stroke? Your from the south! ****, Im used to heat in about 3 weeks....
